12000 punters turned up at
Rula Di Compi Arena, and despite threatening clouds on the horizon, no rain came.
孟 (Meng) 儒泽 (Ruze) was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Jeppe Hermansson and
Benny Johansson.
Compi decided to use a 4-4-2 set up.
Starters: van Minnen - Eken, Horsting, den Heijer, van Praag - Breemen, Cassen, Beumkes, Busstra - Kaagman, Denissen.
Relapse had chosen a strategic 4-4-2 formation.
The following players took the field: Bergwerf - Slagboom, Kievit, Schreiner, Ubbink - van Est, Kuijt, Blummel, Aardewijn - Molhoek, Buiteman.
Compi fans held their breath as
L. Breemen scampered down the left side. He successfully avoided all challenges and cracked home the shot for 1 - 0!
Compi put themselves up 2 - 0 when
L. Breemen broke through on the right, leaving the entire defence trailing in his wake.
Confident in their lead, Compi's players relaxed and focused more on defending the lead than increasing it.
The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave
W. Busstra from Compi a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 15 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient!
Unfortunately for Relapse,
D. Aardewijn was injured when the game became more physical, and he had to leave the field.
H. Edelman replaced him.
The visitors replied 26 minutes into the game, reducing the home side's lead to 2 - 1, as
D. Blummel dashed up the middle, easily lobbing the ball over the home team's keeper.
Compi's
M. Kaagman saw his fine effort strike the top of the bar following some good work up the middle by his teammates after 36 minutes.
Coming from the right,
H. Horsting almost managed to score another goal for Compi, but his header was tipped over the bar by the visitors' keeper.
2 - 1 was the halftime score.
Compi had most of the ball, with 72 percent of possession.
Compi's
W. Busstra had an excellent opportunity after 47 minutes, shooting after receiving a pass from the right hand side, but he missed the goal by miles!
With 50 minutes played, Compi put themselves up 3 - 1 when the visiting defenders lost the ball to
L. Breemen, who came up from the left and proceeded to coolly round the keeper and knock the ball home.
At that,
L. Breemen was noted down for a hat trick!
J. Eken struck a 30 metre free kick home 53 minutes into the match. 4 - 1 for the home team.
A well-executed free kick by
J. Eken after 55 minutes made it 5 - 1 for Compi.
Compi put in a good effort on the right, but
W. Cassen saw his volley fly wide of the mark 57 minutes into the game.
Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Compi, with 72 percent of the ball.
Compi's top performer was clearly
M. Kaagman.
J. van Minnen on the other hand, had a terrible day.
Most important Relapse player was
H. Edelman.
However,
M. Kuijt made a disastrous appearance.
The match ends 5 - 1.
