12000 spectators arrived at
De Grote stap, where weather conditions were pretty good for football.
Gorka Luzón was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Remo Senseig and
Gunaakar Attimarad.
Grotevoet started off with a 3-4-3 lineup.
The following players took the field: Galea - Wassenaar, Gardes, Joosen - Roselaar, Lloret, Sáinz, van Dijken - Noordland, Campana, Oonk.
A 4-4-2 alignment was the formation of choice for Filosofisk.
Starters: van de Loo - Giezen, Ruisendaal, Holthaus, Mens - Groels, van der Elsken, Huisman, Kornelis - Konraad, Meuleman.
Grotevoet seemed to prefer attacking in the middle.
With 8 minutes played
T. Lloret almost put the home team one ahead on a cross coming in from the right, but the shot went just wide.
With 9 minutes gone,
R. Ruisendaal suddenly found himself completely free on the right wing when a counterattack by Filosofisk caught their opponents by surprise. Only a great save by the opposing keeper prevented him from scoring.
Grotevoet broke through on the left 15 minutes into the game, with
P. Campana firing in from an acute angle to give the home side a 1 - 0 lead.
The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave
R. Giezen from Filosofisk a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 16 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient!
In a fantastic display of determination, Grotevoet's
T. Lloret forced himself to his feet, after an opponent viciously knocked him down.
19 minutes into the match, the visitors' central line of defence had to look on as
P. Campana broke through, making the score 2 - 0 for Grotevoet.
Grotevoet solidified their lead at the 20 minute mark, as
P. Campana dribbled the ball through the opposing central defence and scored to make it 3 - 0.
That was his third goal of the match - a hat trick for
P. Campana.
Confident in their lead, Grotevoet's players relaxed and focused more on defending the lead than increasing it.
Things were going to get worse for the visitors.
E. Wassenaar squirmed through their central defence after 37 minutes, increasing the lead to 4 - 0.
It was 4 - 0 at the break.
Grotevoet claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 76 percent.
Central attacks were the recipe of the day for Grotevoet, as they moved the ball from the wings to the middle with startling regularity.
A magnificent combination in the middle resulted in Grotevoet's
G. Roselaar increasing the lead to 5 - 0.
Grotevoet increased the lead as
E. Noordland struck to make the score 6 - 0 after an attack from the left left him unmarked in front of the keeper.
Things were deteriorating for the away team as Grotevoet scored another to make it 7 - 0 after a left side attack resulted in a goal for
E. Noordland after 61 minutes.
We may never know what
J. Sáinz was thinking when he tried to pass the ball through a crowd of opponents. Luckily for him, Filosofisk's
F. Meuleman somehow missed the wide open net.
Grotevoet had a good opportunity to attack on the wing, but remembered their instructions to go for middle attacks.
J. Sáinz could have increased the lead after 74 minutes, but his shot hit the post after a nice combination in the middle of the park.
Filosofisk's
J. Mens was shown a yellow card after 75 minutes for slicing down an opponent.
A magnificent combination in the middle resulted in Grotevoet's
G. Roselaar increasing the lead to 8 - 0.
After 78 minutes, a deliberate handball from Filosofisk's
J. Mens was judged to be his second bookable offence, and he was sent off.
A. Groels became the new Filosofisk captain.
Possession in this half belonged to Grotevoet, who controlled the ball 82 percent of the time.
Most important Grotevoet player was
K. Oonk.
However,
E. Noordland made a disastrous appearance.
The most dominating Filosofisk player was without a doubt
R. Ruisendaal.
S. van de Loo turned in a dismal performance, however.
The match ends 8 - 0.
