Overcast weather free of rain made for a crowd turnout of 50960 at
James Park today.
Lars Moesgaard was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Feliberto Bobadilla and
Jan-Niklas Rossgatterer.
A 4-5-1 alignment was the formation of choice for St.James.
The following players had been chosen: Julien - Loucas, Heerink, Libiš, Rice - Allen, Providence, Bayley, Kirkland, Henderson - Elrick.
Barbadew had chosen a strategic 4-4-2 formation.
The following players took the field: Mason - Mayers, Solomon, Loch, Ward - Levy, Arscott, Byer, Bailey - Arthurton, Harewood.
St.James seemed to prefer attacking in the middle.
St.James took the lead 10 minutes into the game by 1 - 0, as
L. Allen elegantly received a long range pass through the middle, finishing off with a half-volley shot just below the bar.
The visitors'
J. Mayers came close to levelling the score after 22 minutes with a free kick that went just wide of the top left corner.
26 minutes into the match, the visitors' central line of defence had to look on as
J. Henderson broke through, making the score 2 - 0 for St.James.
One of many good crosses from
J. Henderson on the wing was received and skillfully taken care of by
L. Allen, who scored for St.James. 3 - 0
Cheers filled the stadium as
K. Bayley broke through the visitors' central defence to put away the ball to increase the lead to 4 - 0 to St.James.
After 40 minutes, the away team failed to deal with a good exchange of passes on the right, and
M. Libiš gave the St.James supporters even more to cheer about when he increased the lead to 5 - 0.
After this, you could see that the players of St.James were more interested in killing time than scoring more goals.
After 43 minutes,
M. Libiš put St.James ahead 6 - 0 when he rose to head in a cross from the right wing.
6 - 0 was the score after the first half.
Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by St.James, with 83 percent of the ball.
K. Bayley increased the lead for St.James to 7 - 0, getting a head onto a hooked ball from the right. The ball looked to have taken a deflection on the way in, but he's claiming it!
St.James's
C. Loucas was shown a yellow card after 49 minutes for slicing down an opponent.
Content with how the game was proceeding, the St.James coach let
D. Lara replace
S. Elrick after 55 minutes.
A magnificent combination in the middle resulted in St.James's
L. Allen increasing the lead to 8 - 0.
At that,
L. Allen was noted down for a hat trick!
J. Henderson wanted to play on, but the St.James coach had other ideas, and he was replaced 60 minutes into the game by
J. Stephens.
St.James's
D. Lara increased the lead to 9 - 0, after he saw his shot go between the legs of the advancing goalkeeper following some good play down the right wing after 60 minutes.
K. Bayley left the field with a smile on his face as he was substituted 65 minutes into the game, as his team was in the lead.
T. Neysmith was the replacement.
St.James increased the lead as
J. Stephens struck to make the score 10 - 0 after an attack from the left left him unmarked in front of the keeper.
St.James put themselves up 11 - 0 when
T. Neysmith broke through on the right, leaving the entire defence trailing in his wake.
St.James claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 88 percent.
St.James's best player was
R. Heerink.
On the other hand,
J. Julien's play was disheartening.
Most important Barbadew player was
S. Levy.
C. Mason turned in a dismal performance, however.
The match ends 11 - 0.
