Clear skies welcomed the 12000 spectators who had made their way to
Argolla Arena.
Jean-Paul Hanselmann was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Kei Platte and
Fabrice Frébourg.
Fans of both teams had been eagerly awaiting this
Provincia de Buenos Aires derby and were doing their best to outshout their opponents.
Cabello tactics involved an interesting 4-4-2 combination.
The following players had been chosen: Maestroni - van Duin, Mardari, Vincenti, Burela - Famiani, Lepore, Dahlström, Smelteris - Luján, Panjali.
Quilmes_Duff decided to use a 4-4-2 set up.
Lineup: Torres Ochoa - Loubère, Bonde, Marcucci, Sevilla - Maj, Budkovskiy, Toledo, Graanstra - Cosaro, Puuska.
2 minutes of the match played, and a comedy of errors by the home side gave the visitors a chance at the lead, but
S. Toledo, after finding himself dashing down on goal from the left with only the keeper to beat, sliced his shot horribly wide.
11 minutes into the match, Quilmes_Duff nearly took the lead, as
O. Cosaro broke through on the right.
G. Maestroni made the save, however.
Cabello fans held their breath as
E. Luján scampered down the left side. He successfully avoided all challenges and cracked home the shot for 1 - 0!
After 18 minutes, the away team failed to deal with a good exchange of passes on the right, and
M. Famiani gave the Cabello supporters even more to cheer about when he increased the lead to 2 - 0.
By now, the players in Cabello felt that victory was guaranteed and began to play it safe, focusing on defence and not risking too much going forward.
Quilmes_Duff's
O. Cosaro was shown a yellow card for standing over the ball and blocking an opponent's quick free kick after 20 minutes.
27 minutes in, Cabello's
R. Panjali received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first.
A. Loubère of Quilmes_Duff had to be helped off the pitch as an injury meant he was unable to finish the game.
M. De Filippis came in to finish the match.
After 31 minutes, a couple of quick and successful challenges followed by a shot from just outside the penalty area by
W. van Duin might have resulted in another goal for Cabello. However,
D. Torres Ochoa made a spectacular save.
2 - 0 was the halftime score.
Possession in this half belonged to Cabello, who controlled the ball 61 percent of the time.
53 minutes into the match, the visitors' central line of defence had to look on as
S. Dahlström broke through, making the score 3 - 0 for Cabello.
Cabello increased the lead as
E. Luján struck to make the score 4 - 0 after an attack from the left left him unmarked in front of the keeper.
The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave
M. De Filippis from Quilmes_Duff a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 60 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient!
Things were deteriorating for the away team as Cabello scored another to make it 5 - 0 after a left side attack resulted in a goal for
A. Smelteris after 61 minutes.
With 71 minutes gone, Quilmes_Duff's
M. De Filippis had to leave the pitch after talking back to the referee and receiving his second booking.
Cabello enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 58 percent of possession.
The most dominating Cabello player was without a doubt
S. Dahlström.
G. Maestroni was a disappointment, however.
O. Cosaro performed admirably for Quilmes_Duff.
D. Torres Ochoa turned in a dismal performance, however.
The match ends 5 - 0.
