Clouds darkened the skies at
El Celeste del parque as 18973 spectators turned up for the match.
Ireneusz Antoniewski was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Lars Dybek and
Moritz Ambühl.
Futbol tactics involved an interesting 2-5-3 combination.
Lineup: Gaarslev - Dragostinov, Wódka - Gilad, Filliger, Gonzaga, Porodinski, Verden - Bovio, Cirigliano, Nuhić.
A 4-5-1 alignment was the formation of choice for Calvos.
The following players took the field: Del Pico - Torres Campo, de Man, Spartacco, Ramos - Pescia, Jelves, Miranda, Vestergren, Ayetxu - Gartmann.
The strategy for Calvos was to use their ability to press.
After a fine move down the middle
G. Porodinski nearly gave the home side a goal after 13 minutes. However the finishing shot went just wide.
19 minutes in, Calvos's
A. Pescia received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first.
Calvos's
G. Ramos had to watch the rest of the game from the sidelines, after twisting his ankle with 20 minutes having been played.
L. Ortiz was the replacement.
G. Porodinski was very close to giving Futbol the lead with an ingenious free kick routine 27 minutes into the match, but the ball just grazed the bar.
After 29 minutes a well-practised indirect free kick routine by Futbol was easily anticipated by the defenders. The players forward were so well marked, they were left with few viable options.
N. Tuaillon was called on to replace Calvos's
H. Gartmann after 37 minutes following a nasty collision.
38 minutes in, Calvos appeared unsure on how to play and their organisation was only
solid.
Making his way up the middle 39 minutes into the match,
A. Nuhić almost managed to squeeze a goal past the visitors' keeper, but the alert
J. Del Pico blocked it to keep the score level.
It was 0 - 0 at the break.
Futbol claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 60 percent.
Despite his frustration resulting in the smashing of a few teacups, the coach of Calvos was able to get his message across, and raised Calvos's organisation to
solid.
It wasn't a pretty goal, but the free kick by
G. Porodinski after 50 minutes somehow found its way past the keeper. Futbol takes the lead, 1 - 0!
With 53 minutes played, Futbol's
J. Bovio almost extended the lead, but his shot from the left glanced off the top of the bar to fall behind the net.
Calvos's ability to press all over the field frequently paid dividends.
B. Wódka left the field with a smile on his face as he was substituted 58 minutes into the game, as his team was in the lead.
Y. Ulmi was the replacement.
The referee showed Calvos's
N. Tuaillon the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge.
64 minutes into the game, Calvos seemed a little tentative in their play as their organization fell to
passable.
Calvos's talent at pressing frustrated the spectators as the game became a dire midfield struggle.
The coach of Futbol was happy with the game so far, but still wanted to change the line up. After 75 minutes,
S. Tüskés came on for
O. Gilad.
After 80 minutes, the Futbol players received new instructions from their manager on how to keep in control of the game.
Futbol enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 59 percent of possession.
Most important Futbol player was
J. Cirigliano.
C. Gaarslev was a disappointment, however.
Calvos's best player was
A. Torres Campo.
J. Del Pico on the other hand, had a terrible day.
The match ends 1 - 0.
