previous 1/4 next 3/4  Santiago 2 - 0 Resaak2 (391005872)

Due to an all-day shower, 3883 paying spectators got to see a match on a pitch-turned-bog at Union Santiago Arena. Damien Ras was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Daniel Bassols and Moritz Frauenschläger. Santiago had chosen a strategic 4-4-2 formation. The following players took the field: Mansur - Ispani, Popienia, Capitani, Salomone - Moreno, Kansy, Ponzio, Casco - Corral, Parodi.

Resaak2 started off with a 4-4-2 lineup. The following players had been chosen: Marquet - Mignanelli, Velazquez, Fernán González, Tirone - Sananez, Bughurst, Ruiz de Galarreta, Vadell - Mandia, Kessler.

M. Parodi tried using a burst of speed to get past his defender after 20 minutes, but it takes more than that to get past fast I. Fernán González. The game was characterised by rough play and many physical challenges on the wet field, but M. Moreno showed great heart and had a good game. D. Sandiego was called on to replace Resaak2's I. Fernán González after 33 minutes following a nasty collision. D. Bughurst behaved like an inexperienced youth player after 40 minutes as he gave the ball away to C. Ponzio. Lucky for him though, there was no goal. 0 - 0 was the score after the first half. Possession in this half belonged to Santiago, who controlled the ball 51 percent of the time.

With 50 minutes played, the home side managed to get a 1 - 0 lead as E. Capitani flipped the ball in after a cross from the right. Santiago's G. Casco startled M. Moreno with an unexpected pass. Unfortunately, the receiver was too stunned by the play to convert the perfect setup into a goal. M. Moreno increased the lead for Santiago to 2 - 0, getting a head onto a hooked ball from the right. The ball looked to have taken a deflection on the way in, but he's claiming it! The rain made it hard for players like M. Ispani to show their technical control of the ball on this soggy day. Santiago's F. Salomone's long shot really ought to have found the net 89 minutes into the match, but it fell just wide of the target. M. Ispani of Santiago was booked for kicking the ball away after the whistle. Resaak2's L. Tirone had to watch the rest of the game from the sidelines, after twisting his ankle with 89 minutes having been played. E. Lerner was the replacement. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Santiago, with 60 percent of the ball.

The most dominating Santiago player was without a doubt N. Corral. However, D. Mansur made a disastrous appearance. Resaak2's top performer was clearly D. Mandia. E. Lerner turned in a dismal performance, however. The match ends 2 - 0.
