Clouds darkened the skies at
Carlo Sparazza as 11186 spectators turned up for the match.
Thierry Maubert was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Niek van der Vlis and
Giulio Arcellano.
The derby had been the talk of
Ciudad de Buenos Aires all week and fans of both teams could be seen throughout the stadium.
A 4-4-2 alignment was the formation of choice for italiano.
Lineup: Anile - Batini, Cerrageria, Gerk, Falciasecca - Wingeyer, Rimoldi, Catalano, Orellana - Quinn, Rodríguez.
LibertyDream had chosen a strategic 4-4-2 formation.
The following players had been chosen: Nogueira - Correnti, Pons, Pérez, Pérez Maldonado - Cucalo, Florelli, Aragona, Huerta - Amstutz, Alfonso.
This was a good period for the visitors, with several opportunities to take the lead, particularly when
M. Huerta slipped through the defence on the right to come up alone against
G. Anile, but the home side's keeper showed his lightning reflexes.
30 minutes in, LibertyDream's
C. Pérez received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first.
After 31 minutes, the home side was awarded a penalty. The visitors protested wildly but the referee was adamant.
S. Batini easily put the ball away to give the lead to italiano. 1 - 0
The referee showed italiano's
A. Wingeyer the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge.
LibertyDream's
J. Amstutz had to watch the rest of the game from the sidelines, after twisting his ankle with 37 minutes having been played.
F. Valladares was the replacement.
After 39 minutes, LibertyDream were awarded a free kick. Rather than shooting straight at goal, the taker went for an indirect variant which seemed to take his team mates a bit by surprise.
W. Aragona did attempt a finish, but from an awkward position, sending the ball into the away fans.
1 - 0 was the score after the first half.
LibertyDream had most of the ball, with 60 percent of possession.
The home team will be cursing
P. Correnti for weeks; he finished off a great pass from the left, knocking it past the keeper without a problem. The match was level at 1 - 1 after 47 minutes.
A badly positioned defensive formation on a free kick after 64 minutes led to LibertyDream's
P. Correnti giving the visitors the lead 1 - 2.
W. Aragona received some harsh words from his coach after he acted foolishly 71 minutes into the match, probably out of lack of experience, and almost let an opponent score.
G. Florelli came close to extending the visitors' lead when he found himself completely unmarked in front of the goal after a pass through the middle. He tried to lift the ball over
G. Anile but overcooked it and hit the bar instead.
Possession in this half belonged to LibertyDream, who controlled the ball 60 percent of the time.
italiano's top performer was clearly
R. Rodríguez.
G. Anile was a disappointment, however.
J. Cucalo performed admirably for LibertyDream.
C. Pérez on the other hand, had a terrible day.
The match ends 1 - 2.
