Scorpios 0 - 4 SDG (391204764)

Overcast weather free of rain made for a crowd turnout of 40099 at Scorpio Stadium today. Kasper Karlsson was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Roman Kolupaev and Paul Martel. Scorpios decided to use a 5-5-0 set up. They fielded: Zaruski - Berlin, Supantschitz, Borchart, Bourne, Gouard - Motyka, Velastegui, Felice, Golovenko, Zhuzhumi -.

A 3-5-2 alignment was the formation of choice for SDG. The following players had been chosen: Serkei - Török, Houtman, Rivière - Tadeusiewicz, Lumumba, Ciucă, Tecchio, Proboszcz - Tedeschi, Saarman.

Scorpios were relying on their ability to counter-attack. 23 minutes into the game, N. Tedeschi was a hair's breadth away from giving SDG the lead with a shot from over on the left. A prompt block by M. Zaruski saved the home team that time. K. Saarman had a good opportunity to give SDG the lead as he charged down the right and struck the ball towards the top corner, but the home team's goalkeeper made the save. Scorpios's counterattacks created a good chance for S. Zhuzhumi on the right after 27 minutes, but he could only look on with dismay as his strike rebounded off the crossbar. SDG's N. Tedeschi was shown a yellow card after 34 minutes for slicing down an opponent. SDG's J. Proboszcz gave the visitors a 0 - 1 lead after 38 minutes with a superb strike from the right. Halftime score was 0 - 1. SDG had most of the ball, with 61 percent of possession.

48 minutes into the game a free kick by W. Lumumba found its way through the home side's poorly assembled defensive formation, making SDG's lead 0 - 2. K. Saarman wanted to play on, but the SDG coach had other ideas, and he was replaced 50 minutes into the game by R. Mijnals. After 50 minutes, the SDG players received new instructions from their manager on how to keep in control of the game. 51 minutes into the game, SDG were awarded a penalty and W. Lumumba was able to increase the visitors' lead to 0 - 3 rolling the ball in by the right post. The suddenness of the SDG's C. Ciucă's pass to N. Tedeschi after 60 minutes caught the opposition wrong-footed, and they could only watch as the ball sailed home for 0 - 4. After this, you could see that the players of SDG were more interested in killing time than scoring more goals. Content with how the game was proceeding, the SDG coach let A. Maduro replace C. Ciucă after 65 minutes. W. Lumumba was handed the SDG captain's armband. 84 minutes into the game, D. Supantschitz had to leave the pitch due to a knee injury. In came S. Sekulić. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by SDG, with 63 percent of the ball.

Scorpios's best player was M. Zaruski. S. Sekulić was a disappointment, however. Most important SDG player was D. Serkei. R. Mijnals on the other hand, had a terrible day. The match ends 0 - 4.
