(391233165)

17-06-2012 22.40
It was an exceptionally sunny day for the crowd of 46372 that came out to
Monumental Jorge Valdivia.
Arno Kulbe was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Claude Meichsner and
Ibrahim Abdelkrim.
Caupolican tactics involved an interesting 3-5-2 combination.
They fielded: Botía - Cabrera, Pufu, Desmet - Philippon, Košutić, Ribeira Brava, Birolo, Smółka - Pálinger, Claridge.
Vicente started off with a 3-5-2 lineup.
The following players took the field: Arteiro - Fraller, van Geffelen, Diaz - Nørlund, Ruminkiewicz, Coomans, Graber, Pellegri - Spera, Raposo.
Caupolican were mostly trying to use their skill at attacking on the flanks.
Caupolican were determined to attack on the wing and their central attempts were constantly abandoned in favour of the wings.
After 26 minutes,
R. Birolo came in from the right, feinted, then sped past the off-balance defender to make the score 1 - 0, giving Caupolican the lead.
The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave
G. Raposo from Vicente a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 29 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient!
A free kick just outside of the visitors' penalty area after 34 minutes could have resulted in another goal, but
R. Arteiro got a hand out and tipped the ball over the bar.
It was 1 - 0 at the break.
Caupolican claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 55 percent.
The coach of Caupolican was happy with the game so far, but still wanted to change the line up. After 46 minutes,
N. Claude came on for
M. Smółka.
The Caupolican players could smell victory in the air.
M. Ribeira Brava wasn't in a hurry to leave the field as he was substituted for
A. Nicolas after 60 minutes.
M. Diaz levelled the score for Vicente, making it 1 - 1 on a free kick that went in by way of the right post.
Several players seemed a little dazed by the warm weather, and were repeatedly tricked by the clever and agile
A. Nicolas.
Caupolican could have put themselves ahead after 73 minutes but
A. Nicolas missed a volley shot on a ball coming in from the right.
J. Cabrera didn't pace himself at all, and after a series of daring offensive runs he was too tired to help out in the defensive play.
Vicente's
M. Diaz could have put the guests one up after 87 minutes after chasing a through ball from the right, but
J. Botía was as fast as a snake, grabbing the ball from under his nose.
Caupolican broke through on the left 88 minutes into the game, with
A. Košutić firing in from an acute angle to give the home side a 2 - 1 lead.
Vicente's
F. Pellegri left the field after 89 minutes because of a nasty blow to the shin. His replacement was
J. Poliszuk.
Caupolican had most of the ball, with 62 percent of possession.
Most important Caupolican player was
A. Nicolas.
On the other hand,
T. Philippon's play was disheartening.
Vicente's top performer was clearly
N. Nørlund.
However,
J. Poliszuk made a disastrous appearance.
The match ends 2 - 1.
