previous 3/10 next 5/10  Xela 5 - 0 Hetaroi (391254145)

Dark skies made the crowd of 39900 at Campo de cebada a little nervous, but the rain held off. Mickaël Jacon was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Franz Rieks-Pedersen and Baldo Boi. Xela decided to use a 3-5-2 set up. They fielded: Endara - Bailey, Knott, Martino - Piccolo, Svensson, de Castro, Imiełowski, Valdés - Mateus, Kirtzel.

Hetaroi started off with a 4-3-3 lineup. Starters: Bulović - Pedersen, Peacock, Windschuegl, Bronsema - Kertz, Preisinger, van Pruissen - Lecciolino, Moreira Pinheiro, Ammosov.

Hetaroi clearly preferred using their ability to attack in the middle. In a rapid move 26 minutes into the match, K. Kirtzel of Xela lost his man and passed the ball to the unmarked Á. Mateus who easily hit it home to make it 1 - 0. Luckily the ref didn't see him taunting the opposing fans in celebration - naughty boy! Hetaroi had a chance to level the score as G. Lecciolino suddenly found himself free in the middle of the box with only the keeper to beat, but he misjudged the finish, and only managed to hit the bar. 1 - 0 was the halftime score. Xela had most of the ball, with 69 percent of possession.

Xela increased the lead as K. Kirtzel struck to make the score 2 - 0 after an attack from the left left him unmarked in front of the keeper. Hetaroi's R. Windschuegl was shown a yellow card after 50 minutes for slicing down an opponent. Due to a severely mistimed tackle, F. Bailey of Xela spent some time on the grass writhing in agony before he could get up and continue the game. R. Knott could have put Xela up one more, but he fired into the side netting after breaking free on the left after 53 minutes. Xela's M. Valdés increased the lead to 3 - 0, after he saw his shot go between the legs of the advancing goalkeeper following some good play down the right wing after 65 minutes. After 66 minutes, the away team failed to deal with a good exchange of passes on the right, and K. Kirtzel gave the Xela supporters even more to cheer about when he increased the lead to 4 - 0. At this point, it was obvious that the players of Xela lowered the tempo and became more defensively oriented. Xela put themselves up 5 - 0 when Á. Mateus broke through on the right, leaving the entire defence trailing in his wake. K. Kirtzel wanted to play on, but the Xela coach had other ideas, and he was replaced 83 minutes into the game by M. Díez de Medina. The Xela captaincy was handed to C. Piccolo. Xela enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 66 percent of possession.

Xela's top performer was clearly C. Piccolo. However, M. Díez de Medina made a disastrous appearance. The most dominating Hetaroi player was without a doubt D. Moreira Pinheiro. J. Bronsema on the other hand, had a terrible day. The match ends 5 - 0.
