previous 10/10 next 2/10  Quedis 9 - 1 Byron (391338214)

Weather conditions were fairly good for football, and Chulistar Arena saw a crowd turnout of 20200. David Guitton was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Bendix Hanigk and Saro De Fazio. Quedis tactics involved an interesting 4-3-3 combination. Lineup: Ribeiro - Salinas, Tamayo, Schwarzer, Martínez Camarón - Yuraszeck, M'Boup, Soto - Martin, Kötzing, Agurto.

Byron had chosen a strategic 4-4-2 formation. The following players took the field: Iturrialde - Mansilla, Raheiro, Frei, Wirth - Mella, Ayacán, Castillo, Fernández - Milla, Araos.

6 minutes into the game, Quedis had difficulty finding their positions and their organisation dropped to passable. After 7 minutes, A. M'Boup made a complete fool of himself when he presented the ball to the feet of H. Araos who smashed it into the open goal for Byron. 0 - 1. The crowd roared in delight as F. Yuraszeck finished off a spectacular series of passes through the middle to even the score for Quedis 18 minutes into the match. 1 - 1. With 32 minutes played, the home side managed to get a 2 - 1 lead as B. Kötzing flipped the ball in after a cross from the right. Things were going to get worse for the visitors. F. Yuraszeck squirmed through their central defence after 34 minutes, increasing the lead to 3 - 1. Quedis's B. Kötzing got himself booked for a foul. 3 - 1 was the halftime score. Quedis enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 73 percent of possession.

During the break, Quedis's coach went through the team's tactics yet again, getting them up to solid organisation. Quedis put themselves up 4 - 1 when P. Martínez Camarón broke through on the right, leaving the entire defence trailing in his wake. At this point, it was obvious that the players of Quedis lowered the tempo and became more defensively oriented. Quedis solidified their lead at the 65 minute mark, as P. Martínez Camarón dribbled the ball through the opposing central defence and scored to make it 5 - 1. 66 minutes into the match, the visitors' central line of defence had to look on as T. Salinas broke through, making the score 6 - 1 for Quedis. The Quedis free kick 67 minutes into the match seemed wasted, as the shot was both short and off target. But was this actually a plan? The ball landed at the feet of E. Schwarzer, who was completely unmarked in the box. That's 7 - 1! 68 minutes into the game, Quedis seemed to suffer a certain amount of confusion and they fell to a inadequate level of organisation. 69 minutes into the game, Quedis seemed a little tentative in their play as their organization fell to weak. The Quedis coach was visibly pleased with the score so far, but still ordered a few tactical changes 70 minutes into the game. After 70 minutes, the Quedis players received new instructions from their manager on how to keep in control of the game. Cheers filled the stadium as M. Martin broke through the visitors' central defence to put away the ball to increase the lead to 8 - 1 to Quedis. Having been awarded a free kick in an awkward position after 82 minutes, Quedis did not go for a shot but instead fired the ball hard into the 6 yard box. After a brief tussle with his marker, P. Martínez Camarón was able to power the ball past the keeper to make the score 9 - 1. At that, P. Martínez Camarón was noted down for a hat trick! Possession in this half belonged to Quedis, who controlled the ball 79 percent of the time.

Quedis's top performer was clearly B. Kötzing. A. M'Boup was a disappointment, however. Most important Byron player was I. Wirth. G. Frei turned in a dismal performance, however. The match ends 9 - 1.
