previous 7/10 next 9/10  Moffat 0 - 3 Blast (391463897)

54691 spectators arrived at The Wooded Field, where weather conditions were pretty good for football. Ove Flodling was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Bogumyl Sytnikov and Florian Złotoś. Moffat had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation. Starters: Gwioździk - Sandid, de Leest, Al-Rawahy - Argov, Locke, Dooms, Ruel, Ben-David - Randall, Varela.

Blast tactics involved an interesting 3-5-2 combination. Lineup: Lusk - Beaty, Durocher, Olson - Ciulla, Houde, Bielach, Chapdelaine, Rinfret - Imray, Bathgate.

16 minutes into the game, S. Bathgate almost gave the visitors the lead, as he clipped a delicate lob over the keeper, but the ball glanced harmlessly off the crossbar. Moffat's N. Al-Rawahy got himself booked for a foul. This was a good period for the visitors, with several opportunities to take the lead, particularly when S. Bathgate slipped through the defence on the right to come up alone against Z. Gwioździk, but the home side's keeper showed his lightning reflexes. After 39 minutes, Blast raised their score by one when R. Ciulla's dangerous low cross was cleverly tucked in at the near post by S. Bathgate. 0 - 1. It was 0 - 1 at the break. Blast enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 54 percent of possession.

After 47 minutes, a mistake by the home side's left defence allowed S. Bathgate to get through. He outclassed the home side's keeper, adding another goal for the visitors. 0 - 2. Moffat's T. Dooms left the field after 78 minutes because of a nasty blow to the shin. His replacement was É. Fallourd. N. Randall challenged the visitors' central defence eagerly, producing a good chance 79 minutes into the game as he went for a through ball. But, as so many times before, the guests' defensive efforts got the best of it. The home crowd was not impressed when R. Ciulla came in from the right, shooting hard to score after 84 minutes. Blast were now up 0 - 3. S. Bathgate came close to extending the visitors' lead when he found himself completely unmarked in front of the goal after a pass through the middle. He tried to lift the ball over Z. Gwioździk but overcooked it and hit the bar instead. Possession in this half belonged to Blast, who controlled the ball 51 percent of the time.

Moffat's top performer was clearly N. Randall. However, N. Al-Rawahy made a disastrous appearance. I. Imray performed admirably for Blast. On the other hand, L. Beaty's play was disheartening. The match ends 0 - 3.
