29-07-2012 23.00
15736 spectators arrived at
Stadio Siempre Juve NVD, where weather conditions were pretty good for football.
Balthasar Denzler was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Henrique Mota Pinto and
Thomas Morisset.
A 4-5-1 alignment was the formation of choice for Siempre.
The following players had been chosen: Malevolti - Lesage, Kranich, Kiash, Thacker - Duhamel, Housar, Magnin, David, Landry - Papineau.
Bandits tactics involved an interesting 4-4-2 combination.
The following players took the field: Raymond - Dodson, Kooiman, Stutter, Pishur - Wu, Gatti, Drysdale, Sylvestre - Gosselin, Gurr.
Siempre showed off their creative tactics.
With 26 minutes gone, Siempre had a free kick in a decent position. Despite this being a great chance for a shot, they tried a cheeky move intended to bypass the defence. However,
R. David did not manage to connect with it cleanly and the ball went out.
Bandits's
P. Gatti was shown a yellow card after 29 minutes for slicing down an opponent.
Siempre were forced into a substitution as
E. Landry couldn't continue due to some rough treatment, forcing
T. Saban to come in off the bench.
T. Saban's speed is always a threat when he gets a little room to move, and 36 minutes into the match was no different as he broke free of his man to send a delightful through ball to
J. Papineau who knocked it in for Siempre. 1 - 0!
Having been awarded a free kick in an awkward position after 38 minutes, Siempre did not go for a shot but instead fired the ball hard into the 6 yard box. After a brief tussle with his marker,
I. Duhamel was able to power the ball past the keeper to make the score 2 - 0.
M. Lesage's lack of experience almost gave Bandits a goal after 39 minutes, but the shot went right into the keeper's arms.
Halftime score was 2 - 0.
Possession in this half belonged to Siempre, who controlled the ball 65 percent of the time.
After 57 minutes, a couple of quick and successful challenges followed by a shot from just outside the penalty area by
J. Papineau might have resulted in another goal for Siempre. However,
V. Raymond made a spectacular save.
The suddenness of the Bandits's
C. Dodson's pass to
D. Gurr after 65 minutes caught the opposition wrong-footed, and they could only watch as the ball sailed home for 2 - 1.
A magnificent combination in the middle resulted in Siempre's
K. Kiash increasing the lead to 3 - 1.
By now, the players in Siempre felt that victory was guaranteed and began to play it safe, focusing on defence and not risking too much going forward.
Siempre's
A. Housar refused to leave the field after injuring his achilles tendon after 73 minutes.
The visiting team's coach wasn't happy with
C. Dodson after he missed an opportunity to reduce the score from the penalty spot 76 minutes into the match.
Cheers filled the stadium as
J. Papineau broke through the visitors' central defence to put away the ball to increase the lead to 4 - 1 to Siempre.
M. Lesage should probably have put his team up another goal after 82 minutes, but some great goalkeeping by
V. Raymond kept the visitors in the game.
Siempre had most of the ball, with 70 percent of possession.
J. Papineau performed admirably for Siempre.
M. Magnin turned in a dismal performance, however.
The most dominating Bandits player was without a doubt
S. Stutter.
On the other hand,
V. Raymond's play was disheartening.
The match ends 4 - 1.
