Overcast weather free of rain made for a crowd turnout of 70760 at Topo do Mundo Stadium today. Mika Laiho was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Stefano Weller and Mathieu Lantz. Valorosos started off with a 4-4-2 lineup. Lineup: Aiuaba - Ooms, Boubelík, Tyberghien, Njegovan - Fernandez, Vepřek, Rothskär, Reyes - Olsson, Riggenmann.

Xaxinense decided to use a 3-5-2 set up. The following players took the field: Maier - Gomez, Lewalter, Kundziņš - Salling, Monfulle, Fontes, Schäfler, Vatter - Brinkman, Aballe.

11 minutes into the match and the home team took a 1 - 0 lead after breaking through on the left. The scorer for Valorosos was H. Riggenmann. Xaxinense's right side looked dangerous 18 minutes in, but E. Aiuaba made a good save on C. Gomez's hard shot to the top corner. Valorosos's M. Ooms left the field after 19 minutes because of a nasty blow to the shin. His replacement was J. Lambrigger. The visitors' P. Brinkman was alert after a cross coming in from the left, levelling the score at 1 - 1 after 21 minutes. Valorosos took the lead 27 minutes into the game by 2 - 1, as F. Olsson elegantly received a long range pass through the middle, finishing off with a half-volley shot just below the bar. Valorosos's G. Tyberghien swung in a good chance from the left, but the visitors' defence were able to clear the ball. The teams went for the halftime break at 2 - 1. Possession was split evenly between the teams.

Although the whole team were struggling to impress, Xaxinense's C. Gomez was singled out as being the problem as he was called off the pitch after 69 minutes. T. Gyllenner was given a chance to change things around. A speedy charge from the left side of the field increased the lead of Valorosos to 3 - 1 as R. Rothskär finished it off competently, firing in from an acute angle. With 77 minutes played, the Xaxinense coach decided a substitution may help turn the game around. D. Kutner came on, M. Vatter had to leave the fray. B. Lewalter was handed the Xaxinense captain's armband. Xaxinense fought on and, after 78 minutes, B. Aballe was able to reduce the deficit to 3 - 2 after some excellent moves on the right side were finished off with an incredibly clever chip. Possession of the ball saw an equal split between the teams during the forty-five minutes.

H. Riggenmann performed admirably for Valorosos. J. Lambrigger on the other hand, had a terrible day. Xaxinense's top performer was clearly P. Brinkman. D. Kutner was a disappointment, however. The match ends 3 - 2.
