Clouds darkened the skies at Gigante da Colina Stadium as 65232 spectators turned up for the match. Linus Vinblad was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Silvio Credidio Mello and Wilger Adelaar. People from all over Rio de Janeiro had joined up for the derby. CHARADA started off with a 2-5-3 lineup. Starters: Bonifácio - Tikhanov, Ahaus - Tournebize, Césan, Katman, Faber, Wajs - Vošta, Segale, Barrezeele.

A 2-5-3 alignment was the formation of choice for Lenhadores. The following players had been chosen: Damato - Guaraes, Aizawa - Chaves, Babiano, Zawyjło, Bisgaard Jensen, Van Cauwelaert - Assini, La Barbera, Ranta.

R. Bonifácio looked great 3 minutes into the match after stopping a shot from the middle of the penalty area from the visitors' A. Assini. The corner kick from S. Van Cauwelaert was powerfully met by the head of A. Babiano to make the score 0 - 1. After 24 minutes, Lenhadores's S. Van Cauwelaert burst through the central defence and let loose a cannonball of a shot, scoring for 0 - 2. The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave E. Ranta from Lenhadores a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 28 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient! At 29 minutes into the game, CHARADA's O. Barrezeele deftly knocked the ball home after an impressive run down the left, reducing the visitors' lead to 1 - 2. 32 minutes into the game, Lenhadores worked the left side industriously creating several opportunities to add to their lead, but just couldn't apply the finishing touch. After 38 minutes a well-practised indirect free kick routine by CHARADA was easily anticipated by the defenders. The players forward were so well marked, they were left with few viable options. The teams went for the halftime break at 1 - 2. Lenhadores enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 56 percent of possession.

A. La Barbera came close to extending the visitors' lead when he found himself completely unmarked in front of the goal after a pass through the middle. He tried to lift the ball over R. Bonifácio but overcooked it and hit the bar instead. 63 minutes in, Lenhadores's A. La Barbera received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first. Unfortunately for CHARADA, B. Faber was injured when the game became more physical, and he had to leave the field. M. de Oliveira replaced him. Encouraged by their lead, after 65 minutes the Lenhadores coach asked R. Guaraes to change positions with M. Aizawa. The Lenhadores players could smell victory in the air. R. Guaraes wasn't in a hurry to leave the field as he was substituted for V. Mustafa after 66 minutes. After 69 minutes, an incisive pass through the middle gave E. Ranta a chance to increase the lead for Lenhadores, and he did not disappoint. The score was then 1 - 3. Content with how the game was proceeding, the Lenhadores coach let G. Paiva Neto replace A. Babiano after 70 minutes. 73 minutes into the match, B. Bisgaard Jensen came through the middle and almost added to his team's lead, but the shot went wide. CHARADA supporters cheered as good work down the right got the ball to P. Vošta who reduced the visitors' lead after 74 minutes to 2 - 3. Lenhadores had most of the ball, with 62 percent of possession.

The most dominating CHARADA player was without a doubt S. Segale. M. de Oliveira was a disappointment, however. Most important Lenhadores player was E. Ranta. G. Paiva Neto turned in a dismal performance, however. The match ends 2 - 3.
