previous 9/10 next 1/10  Tricolor 1 - 1 Guerreiro (391540305)

It had rained all day, but 41460 hardy fans still made it out to Tricolor Avaré Arena. Asko Torniainen was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Walter Kronenfeldt and Gabriel Soares. Tricolor tactics involved an interesting 3-5-2 combination. The following players took the field: Godinho - Aceña, Rasseykin, Miller - Bælum, Bečák, Dicle, Cristina, Pfeilitzer - Erstrand, Cosma.

Guerreiro started off with a 4-5-1 lineup. Starters: De Lira - Damian, Machnes, Meirelles, Giraud - Jaz, Alves, Rodríguez, Calbetón, Tomé - Bousquet.

Pressing was the tactic of the day for Tricolor. Today, Guerreiro's strategy involved concentrating on the flanks for their attacks. Tricolor were very close to putting themselves one up after 5 minutes as T. Dicle got through on the left, but failing in concentration, he shot the ball wide. With 6 minutes played, I. Pfeilitzer of Tricolor fell dramatically just outside the penalty area. However, the referee was unimpressed, and booked him for diving. J. Bælum was struggling to make the ball dance with his usual trickery and panache, and the opposing players had little trouble shutting him down in these muddy conditions. Guerreiro had a good opportunity to attack in the middle, but remembered their instructions to focus on wing attacks instead. The visitors' central defence should have had no trouble clearing the pass to N. Erstrand, but the Tricolor player managed to shrug them off and fired a low shot past the keeper to give his team the lead. 1 - 0! After 29 minutes, Guerreiro's A. Meirelles fell awkwardly, but was determined to stay in the match. That's the spirit! With 31 minutes played, V. Alves came in from the right and could have evened the score, but the defenders successfully repelled the attack by Guerreiro. Tricolor's talent at pressing frustrated the spectators as the game became a dire midfield struggle. The referee showed Tricolor's L. Cosma the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. T. Machnes's knee will be throbbing for days, but thankfully for Guerreiro, he bravely continued in the match. 1 - 0 was the halftime score. Tricolor had most of the ball, with 51 percent of possession.

At this time in the match, Tricolor were using their skill at pressing to successfully stifle the game. After 65 minutes, Guerreiro switched A. Meirelles with R. Rezek, hoping for a quick impact on the pitch. Although the whole team were struggling to impress, Guerreiro's V. Alves was singled out as being the problem as he was called off the pitch after 65 minutes. K. da Ilha was given a chance to change things around. With 65 minutes played, the Guerreiro coach decided a substitution may help turn the game around. 宋. 國昌 (Guochang) came on, R. Bousquet had to leave the fray. The Tricolor players could smell victory in the air. J. Bælum wasn't in a hurry to leave the field as he was substituted for A. Cimadevilla after 70 minutes. T. Dicle unleashed a swerving effort from the right that the visitors' keeper did well to tip wide. The home side's L. Cosma came close to extending the lead 76 minutes into the game. His shot came in from the right hand side but E. De Lira managed to save it with an unbelievable reaction stop. Given a free kick close to the byline, Guerreiro tried a move that loyal fans may recognise from training. A pass to the side pulled the defence out of position which let A. Tomé slip through on goal. He didn't have to break his stride, and slipped the ball past the keeper to make it 1 - 1, 78 minutes into the game. C. De Grande was called on to replace Tricolor's T. Dicle after 83 minutes following a nasty collision. After 84 minutes, there was a bit of a mixup on the field as Tricolor found themselves out of position and their organisation level dropped to passable. Guerreiro enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 58 percent of possession.

The most dominating Tricolor player was without a doubt N. Erstrand. On the other hand, C. De Grande's play was disheartening. J. Calbetón performed admirably for Guerreiro. E. De Lira turned in a dismal performance, however. The match ends 1 - 1.
