Steyaert nearly gave the home side a goal after 27 minutes. However the finishing shot went just wide. Roseira's G. Berquin's long shot really ought to have found the net 37 minutes into the match, but it fell just wide of the target. The teams went for the halftime break at 1 - 1. Possession in this half belonged to Roseira, who controlled the ball 51 percent of the time.

The home crowd breathed a collective sigh of relief when O. Silva Cunha was unable to put the ball in the net after his show of skill down the left 48 minutes into the match. He was seen beating the pitch in frustration at missing such a good chance to give his team the lead! Roseira's G. Berquin tried to break through in the middle repeatedly, but couldn't get past the visitors' defenders. Roseira's ability to press all over the field frequently paid dividends. Roseira pressed their opponents, causing the game to be a bit of a stalemate at times. This part of the game was a standoff between the teams in terms of possession.
