Alfredo Algora was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Arnaud Poissonnier and Ivas Kabačauskas. F.C. tactics involved an interesting 3-5-2 combination. Using their counter-attacking abilities was the strategy of choice for Menezes. After a fine move down the middle T. Sandu nearly gave the home side a goal after 14 minutes. However the finishing shot went just wide. T. Sønksen of Menezes was booked for kicking the ball away after the whistle. F.C. took the lead 24 minutes in, as M. Bocchini broke through on the left and put the 1 - 0 shot just beyond the reach of the outstretched keeper. After 28 minutes, a couple of quick and successful challenges followed by a shot from just outside the penalty area by C. Grigoriu might have resulted in another goal for F.C.. However, C. Omaña made a spectacular save. The visitors almost came back with an equaliser 33 minutes into the match after a good combination down the middle, but when T. Sønksen tried to finish the attack, he couldn't deliver the shot hard enough to seriously challenge the keeper. Halftime score was 1 - 0. F.C. had most of the ball, with 56 percent of possession.

After 60 minutes, the F.C. players received new instructions from their manager on how to keep in control of the game. 63 minutes into the match, the visitors' central line of defence had to look on as T. Sandu broke through, making the score 2 - 0 for F.C.. The players of F.C. now seemed to think the job was done and acted more defensively, just waiting for the ref to blow the final whistle. C. Grigoriu had a fantastic opportunity to put F.C. up another goal 66 minutes into the match, but he fired just over the crossbar. With 67 minutes played, C. Mandolini of F.C. fell dramatically just outside the penalty area. However, the referee was unimpressed, and booked him for diving. Menezes's V. Lysenko had to watch the rest of the game from the sidelines, after twisting his ankle with 71 minutes having been played. B. Laugesen was the replacement. As the captain was no longer on the pitch, T. Sønksen took over the role of being the Menezes captain. The counterattacks of Menezes were deadly and 77 minutes into the game, B. Laugesen received a nice pass from the right flank, making it 2 - 1. M. Baldemair could have put F.C. up one more, but he fired into the side netting after breaking free on the left after 80 minutes. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by F.C., with 56 percent of the ball.

The most dominating F.C. player was without a doubt C. Grigoriu. C. Mandolini was a disappointment, however. Most important Menezes player was T. Sønksen. B. Laugesen on the other hand, had a terrible day. The match ends 2 - 1.
