Dark skies made the crowd of 44420 at
Jardins Suspensos a little nervous, but the rain held off.
Cliff Jensen was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Enrique Duyck and
Mattia Lagneaux.
The derby had been the talk of
São Paulo all week and fans of both teams could be seen throughout the stadium.
Semíramis had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation.
They fielded: Wahlland - Alcocer, Berloni, 佐野 (Sano) - Pena, Guarinon, Graziano, Weller, Leitão - Almeida, Capixaba.
A 3-5-2 alignment was the formation of choice for Boêmios.
Starters: Alvarado - Córdoba, Farrar, Azcárraga - Rørtveit, Elul, Steckly, Audrain, Kraechenbuehl - Fleurbaey, Frahm.
A. Elul of Boêmios was booked for kicking the ball away after the whistle.
Boêmios's
J. Rørtveit was dominating his wing and kept sending fine balls into the opposition's box -
S. Fleurbaey managed to volley one of them into the net to make it 0 - 1 after 14 minutes.
D. Farrar came close to extending the visitors' lead when he found himself completely unmarked in front of the goal after a pass through the middle. He tried to lift the ball over
M. Wahlland but overcooked it and hit the bar instead.
Boêmios's
O. Córdoba made it through the home team's defence on the right hand side 17 minutes into the match. After rounding the keeper, he only had to place the ball in the unguarded goal when a defender slid in and cleared the ball off the line.
36 minutes into the match,
S. Fleurbaey came through the middle and almost added to his team's lead, but the shot went wide.
With 37 minutes played,
A. Guarinon of Semíramis fell dramatically just outside the penalty area. However, the referee was unimpressed, and booked him for diving.
The home crowd cheered when, after 39 minutes,
Q. Kraechenbuehl's charge up the middle resulted in the keeper making one of his best saves of the day.
40 minutes into the game Semíramis managed a counterattack, but
R. Capixaba took a soft shot from the left flank that was easy prey for the alert keeper.
It was 0 - 1 at the break.
Boêmios had most of the ball, with 56 percent of possession.
With 53 minutes played, a quick exchange of passes on the left wing freed
S. Fleurbaey of Boêmios to slip through the defence and score another goal for the visitors. That made the score 0 - 2.
The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave
M. Azcárraga from Boêmios a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 61 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient!
After 65 minutes of game time,
S. Fleurbaey had an excellent opportunity to add to the visitors' lead, clipping a volley hooked in from the right, but
M. Wahlland was in the right place and tipped the ball over for a corner.
With 77 minutes played, Boêmios put themselves up 0 - 3 after an attack from the right, caused by a defensive blunder. The scorer was
N. Steckly.
The players of Boêmios now seemed to think the job was done and acted more defensively, just waiting for the ref to blow the final whistle.
Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Boêmios, with 57 percent of the ball.
Semíramis's top performer was clearly
R. Capixaba.
However,
M. Leitão made a disastrous appearance.
Most important Boêmios player was
E. Frahm.
J. Audrain turned in a dismal performance, however.
The match ends 0 - 3.
