Águia clearly preferred using their ability to attack in the middle. Timão were relying on their ability to counter-attack. Timão's B. Rodrigues managed to lose the defenders as he advanced down the right wing and scored, putting the visitors ahead after 12 minutes. 0 - 1. After 20 minutes of play, H. Nechwatal equalised for Águia after an elegant attack from the right. Águia's D. Cabral was shown a yellow card after 21 minutes for slicing down an opponent. Timão were forced into a substitution as J. Salses couldn't continue due to some rough treatment, forcing N. Pena Branca to come in off the bench. Águia's defence sent a ball soaring up the middle on a beautiful counterattack with 24 minutes gone, but U. Atripaldi's finish was met by the reaching hands of the keeper. After several obvious shirt pulling incidents, S. Duray got himself booked. The manager of Águia was not happy. After some beautiful movement down the left wing, U. Atripaldi scored for Águia putting them ahead 2 - 1, after 36 minutes. 2 - 1 was the score after the first half. Águia enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 53 percent of possession.

The Águia players could smell victory in the air. D. Juřík wasn't in a hurry to leave the field as he was substituted for A. Avilez after 46 minutes. The visitors kept the pressure on to tie the game when, after 64 minutes, B. Rodrigues broke through the centre and found himself alone with the keeper. F. Bar Andouzi made a great block, though. Águia increased the lead as U. Atripaldi struck to make the score 3 - 1 after an attack from the left left him unmarked in front of the keeper. A speedy charge from the left side of the field increased the lead of Águia to 4 - 1 as P. Petricca finished it off competently, firing in from an acute angle. The players of Águia now seemed to think the job was done and acted more defensively, just waiting for the ref to blow the final whistle. It was obvious that team Águia had instructions to attack in the middle instead of on the wings. Águia's T. Klapper saw his fine effort strike the top of the bar following some good work up the middle by his teammates after 87 minutes. Possession in this half belonged to Águia, who controlled the ball 56 percent of the time.

Águia's best player was H. Nechwatal. P. Petricca was a disappointment, however. F. Rebello performed admirably for Timão. N. Pena Branca turned in a dismal performance, however. The match ends 4 - 1.
