The players of Fla-men-go now seemed to think the job was done and acted more defensively, just waiting for the ref to blow the final whistle. Franja had a brilliant opportunity to reply as J. Maréchal received a high ball from the right, striking the ball in the air. Only C. Kiernan's reflexes saved him. Fla-men-go's B. Hicks made it through the home team's defence on the right hand side 51 minutes into the match. After rounding the keeper, he only had to place the ball in the unguarded goal when a defender slid in and cleared the ball off the line. Franja reduced the lead to 1 - 4 with 82 minutes on the clock when G. Lenzi got the best of a ball floated in from the left. Fla-men-go's J. Farias was shown a yellow card after 83 minutes for slicing down an opponent. L. Le Berre got a fingertip on F. Canêdo's shot from the left 84 minutes in, and managed to keep the visitors from going up another goal. Franja claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 51 percent.
