A brilliantly sunny day had enticed a crowd of 12000 to Arena do Cascudão. Bjarke Kinnerup was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Felice Fallo and Amilcare Bevilacqua. This was a good period for the visitors, with several opportunities to take the lead, particularly when M. Avalos slipped through the defence on the right to come up alone against C. Arteaga, but the home side's keeper showed his lightning reflexes. Taperoá took the lead after 7 minutes making the score 0 - 1. A. Andersson placed the ball out of reach for the home side's keeper after a fine move, coming in from the left. Jurubebinha's J. Costela showed his experience, anticipating the outcome of the opponent's defensive clearance and positioning himself perfectly to volley in an unstoppable shot from the edge of the box. 1 - 1. Taperoá made it 1 - 2 as M. Avalos got a touch to the floated corner kick and flicked the ball to S. Dalla Valle who whipped a low drive in off the far post. Taperoá were determined to attack in the middle, even their wing attacks ended up centrally. 24 minutes into the match, M. Avalos came through the middle and almost added to his team's lead, but the shot went wide. Taperoá players heard their coach's words ringing in their ears and steered their wing attacks to the middle instead. After 29 minutes a combination in the middle resulted in a through ball for R. van Daatselaar who increased Taperoá's lead to 1 - 3. The teams went for the halftime break at 1 - 3. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Taperoá, with 73 percent of the ball.

The visitors' T. Agostinelli took advantage of a misunderstanding between the home side's goalie and centre backs 51 minutes into the match. 1 - 4 for Taperoá. 53 minutes in, Jurubebinha's R. Morgado received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first. E. Moura Rocha found it hard to catch his breath today in the stifling heat. T. Agostinelli received a delicate pass through the home side's central defence after 61 minutes, and chipped it past the flailing keeper to score making it 1 - 5. The Taperoá fans went wild, whilst the home fans started to think about leaving early. It was obvious that team Taperoá had instructions to attack in the middle instead of on the wings. After 63 minutes, an incisive pass through the middle gave R. van Daatselaar a chance to increase the lead for Taperoá, and he did not disappoint. The score was then 1 - 6. At this point, it was obvious that the players of Taperoá lowered the tempo and became more defensively oriented. Jurubebinha's J. Costela got himself booked for a foul. D. Buslaev increased the visitors' lead by putting a volley away after a pass from the right. 1 - 7. Taperoá claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 76 percent.

Most important Jurubebinha player was C. Arteaga. However, E. Moura Rocha made a disastrous appearance. Taperoá's top performer was clearly M. Avalos. S. Dalla Valle turned in a dismal performance, however. The match ends 1 - 7.
