21449 spectators had come to
Arena Inter Morumbi this cloudy day.
Dwight Johnstone was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Noah Classen and
Bjørn Birkeland.
Inter had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation.
The following players took the field: Bogenbauer - Boon, Taglierini, Korytkowski - De Maertelaere, Leitner, Mollner, Szente, Vergani - Bortolotto, Anastasi.
Shaolin decided to use a 3-5-2 set up.
They fielded: Sackx - Maguolo, Pastoor, Minicucci - Raposo, Tonko, Forti, Yamelst, 大島 (Oshima) - de Vocht, Kobierecki.
Inter took the lead 2 minutes in, as
G. Bortolotto broke through on the left and put the 1 - 0 shot just beyond the reach of the outstretched keeper.
Inter's
J. Mollner increased the lead to 2 - 0, after he saw his shot go between the legs of the advancing goalkeeper following some good play down the right wing after 11 minutes.
Inter solidified their lead at the 14 minute mark, as
G. Bortolotto dribbled the ball through the opposing central defence and scored to make it 3 - 0.
C. Minicucci of Shaolin was booked for kicking the ball away after the whistle.
Given a free kick close to the byline, Inter tried a move that loyal fans may recognise from training. A pass to the side pulled the defence out of position which let
G. Anastasi slip through on goal. He didn't have to break his stride, and slipped the ball past the keeper to make it 4 - 0, 23 minutes into the game.
J. Forti of Shaolin received a yellow card after 33 minutes for unsportsmanlike behaviour.
B. Taglierini of Inter seemed to be floating in the air as he elegantly headed in to make the score 5 - 0 after a corner kick that was nicely executed by
J. Mollner.
By now, the players in Inter felt that victory was guaranteed and began to play it safe, focusing on defence and not risking too much going forward.
A magnificent combination in the middle resulted in Inter's
M. Szente increasing the lead to 6 - 0.
With 40 minutes gone, Shaolin's
C. Minicucci had to leave the pitch after talking back to the referee and receiving his second booking.
After 42 minutes a very unfortunate collision in the penalty area led to Inter's
G. Bortolotto being carried off the pitch and replaced by
G. Jatobá.
6 - 0 was the halftime score.
Inter claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 62 percent.
After 47 minutes, Shaolin switched
C. Tonko with
M. Fuscão, hoping for a quick impact on the pitch.
Although the whole team were struggling to impress, Shaolin's
N. Yamelst was singled out as being the problem as he was called off the pitch after 47 minutes.
F. Christophersen was given a chance to change things around.
Things were going to get worse for the visitors.
B. Boon squirmed through their central defence after 71 minutes, increasing the lead to 7 - 0.
72 minutes into the match, the visitors' central line of defence had to look on as
B. Boon broke through, making the score 8 - 0 for Inter.
The Inter free kick 81 minutes into the match seemed wasted, as the shot was both short and off target. But was this actually a plan? The ball landed at the feet of
G. Anastasi, who was completely unmarked in the box. That's 9 - 0!
Cheers filled the stadium as
G. Jatobá broke through the visitors' central defence to put away the ball to increase the lead to 10 - 0 to Inter.
The referee showed Inter's
M. Leitner the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge.
Due to a severely mistimed tackle,
T. de Vocht of Shaolin spent some time on the grass writhing in agony before he could get up and continue the game.
86 minutes into the match, the visitors' central line of defence had to look on as
G. Jatobá broke through, making the score 11 - 0 for Inter.
The suddenness of the Inter's
V. De Maertelaere's pass to
G. Anastasi after 87 minutes caught the opposition wrong-footed, and they could only watch as the ball sailed home for 12 - 0.
This third goal completed a hattrick for
G. Anastasi.
Inter enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 65 percent of possession.
Most important Inter player was
V. De Maertelaere.
G. Jatobá turned in a dismal performance, however.
The most dominating Shaolin player was without a doubt
J. Forti.
D. Raposo on the other hand, had a terrible day.
The match ends 12 - 0.
