The crowd of 16335 turning up at
Nazabão today were greeted with some nasty showers of rain.
Martin Wiking was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Enrique Carreras and
Oséas Moraes.
Nazareno had chosen a strategic 4-3-3 formation.
Lineup: Iraz - Leão, Lieckfeld, Ståhlner, Salis - Cuervo, Lemarchand, Valderas - Fuchshuber, Khimich, Sękowski.
Só tactics involved an interesting 3-5-2 combination.
The following players took the field: Chambers - Öğütal, Davit, Weiermann - Soriano, Vaismaa, Zanotti, Deák, de Fátima - Konstas, Bure.
Nazareno immediately set off using their skill at pressing their opponents.
M. Vaismaa spent most of the time in a heap on the ground today, his normally rapid movement hindered by the slippery pitch.
With 11 minutes played, the visitors broke through on the right after some poor defending.
G. Konstas put the ball away for 0 - 1.
20 minutes in, Nazareno's
M. Salis received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first.
A loud groan was heard from the fans of Só, as
T. Öğütal left the pitch in too much pain to finish the match.
J. Ulmann took his place on the field.
At this time in the match, Nazareno were using their skill at pressing to successfully stifle the game.
H. Lieckfeld didn't let the weather get him down and made some great moves on the pitch in spite of the rain.
B. Zanoni was called on to replace Só's
D. Chambers after 37 minutes following a nasty collision.
The home crowd cheered when, after 40 minutes,
É. Soriano's charge up the middle resulted in the keeper making one of his best saves of the day.
Halftime score was 0 - 1.
Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Só, with 53 percent of the ball.
The pressing tactics used by Nazareno were successful as the ball remained close to the half way line at all times.
With 76 minutes played,
J. Ulmann of Só fell dramatically just outside the penalty area. However, the referee was unimpressed, and booked him for diving.
Nazareno's talent at pressing frustrated the spectators as the game became a dire midfield struggle.
G. Konstas of Só took advantage of a mistake on the home side's right after 84 minutes which increased the away team's lead to 0 - 2.
With 86 minutes gone, Só had a free kick in a decent position. Despite this being a great chance for a shot, they tried a cheeky move intended to bypass the defence. However,
J. Ulmann did not manage to connect with it cleanly and the ball went out.
N. de Fátima's early cross saw the defenders caught out of position and the alert
A. Bure was able to pounce and roll the ball past the hapless goalkeeper to score for Só. 0 - 3.
Só increased the lead to 0 - 4 as
G. Konstas scored from the penalty spot, putting the ball in near the top left corner.
At that,
G. Konstas was noted down for a hat trick!
By now, the players in Só felt that victory was guaranteed and began to play it safe, focusing on defence and not risking too much going forward.
After several obvious shirt pulling incidents,
G. Fuchshuber got himself booked. The manager of Nazareno was not happy.
Só enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 60 percent of possession.
The most dominating Nazareno player was without a doubt
H. Lieckfeld.
A. Khimich on the other hand, had a terrible day.
Most important Só player was
A. Bure.
J. Ulmann was a disappointment, however.
The match ends 0 - 4.
