The weather was pretty good, and a crowd of 35349 had shown up at
Coliseu Marmita for the match.
Flaviu Dinicã was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Alec McCartan and
Davide Brasini.
Marmita started off with a 5-3-2 lineup.
They fielded: Huberman - Rosa, Jobim, Puma, Santini, Barirí - Himeur, Kaulbarsch, Santoni - Großkreutz, Riera.
Do40 tactics involved an interesting 3-5-2 combination.
The following players took the field: Gatiņš - Papero, Oviedo Díaz, Cordona - Cordeiro, Coelho Neto, Mittwoch, da Guia, Evangelista - Berretta, Itajubense.
Today, Marmita's strategy involved concentrating on the flanks for their attacks.
Do40 seemed to prefer attacking in the middle.
C. Rosa received some harsh words from his coach after he acted foolishly 16 minutes into the match, probably out of lack of experience, and almost let an opponent score.
Marmita's
J. Himeur was shown a yellow card after 17 minutes for slicing down an opponent.
The visitors' central defence should have had no trouble clearing the pass to
L. Riera, but the Marmita player managed to shrug them off and fired a low shot past the keeper to give his team the lead. 1 - 0!
C. Rosa should probably have put his team up another goal after 31 minutes, but some great goalkeeping by
R. Gatiņš kept the visitors in the game.
Players in Marmita heard their coach's words ringing in their ears and steered their central attacks to the wings instead.
After 36 minutes,
S. Großkreutz put Marmita ahead 2 - 0 when he rose to head in a cross from the right wing.
At this point, it was obvious that the players of Marmita lowered the tempo and became more defensively oriented.
2 - 0 was the score after the first half.
Marmita claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 70 percent.
Marmita had a good opportunity to attack in the middle, but remembered their instructions to focus on wing attacks instead.
L. Riera increased the lead for Marmita to 3 - 0, getting a head onto a hooked ball from the right. The ball looked to have taken a deflection on the way in, but he's claiming it!
It was obvious that Marmita had instructions to attack on the wings instead of in the middle.
Things were deteriorating for the away team as Marmita scored another to make it 4 - 0 after a left side attack resulted in a goal for
P. Santini after 65 minutes.
Marmita were determined to attack on the wing and their central attempts were constantly abandoned in favour of the wings.
Marmita put themselves up 5 - 0 when
L. Jobim broke through on the right, leaving the entire defence trailing in his wake.
G. Cordeiro of Do40 was booked for kicking the ball away after the whistle.
After 79 minutes, the away team failed to deal with a good exchange of passes on the right, and
L. Jobim gave the Marmita supporters even more to cheer about when he increased the lead to 6 - 0.
Attacking on the wings was the choice for Marmita, and they were successfully passing the ball from the middle to the wings to attack.
Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Marmita, with 70 percent of the ball.
L. Riera performed admirably for Marmita.
On the other hand,
F. Puma's play was disheartening.
Do40's top performer was clearly
J. Itajubense.
However,
V. Mittwoch made a disastrous appearance.
The match ends 6 - 0.
