30-07-2012 00.00
A scorching day at
Coliseu Marmita, where 41852 spectators were in place for today's match.
William Garner was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Yke Wijers and
Tore Fredblom.
Marmita had chosen a strategic 3-4-3 formation.
Lineup: Huberman - Santini, Barirí, Jobim - Anú, Santoni, Kaulbarsch, Himeur - Riera, Staal, Großkreutz.
Mannraut tactics involved an interesting 3-5-2 combination.
Starters: Kučejevas - Bernhauer, Hamdan, Woolf - Kuno, Fiorini, Myćka, Nervik, Güray - Vasdekis, Stocker.
Using their counter-attacking abilities was the strategy of choice for Mannraut.
It was a hot and sunny day, and several players seemed worn out. Maybe this was why
N. Anú found an unusual amount of space for his snappy footwork.
6 minutes into the match and the home team took a 1 - 0 lead after breaking through on the left. The scorer for Marmita was
N. Anú.
Mannraut made it 1 - 1 as
G. Bernhauer got a touch to the floated corner kick and flicked the ball to
J. Nervik who whipped a low drive in off the far post.
J. Himeur gave Marmita the lead as he successfully challenged the guests' central defenders, then slotted the ball into the bottom corner, giving the keeper no chance. 2 - 1
J. Himeur increased the lead for Marmita to 3 - 1, getting a head onto a hooked ball from the right. The ball looked to have taken a deflection on the way in, but he's claiming it!
Marmita solidified their lead at the 28 minute mark, as
L. Riera dribbled the ball through the opposing central defence and scored to make it 4 - 1.
It was 4 - 1 at the break.
Possession in this half belonged to Marmita, who controlled the ball 67 percent of the time.
Things were going to get worse for the visitors.
N. Anú squirmed through their central defence after 62 minutes, increasing the lead to 5 - 1.
The intense heat forced
M. Stocker into making some errors because he couldn't seem to keep up with the others.
The referee showed Mannraut's
M. Stocker the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge.
After 68 minutes, the away team failed to deal with a good exchange of passes on the right, and
S. Großkreutz gave the Marmita supporters even more to cheer about when he increased the lead to 6 - 1.
After this, you could see that the players of Marmita were more interested in killing time than scoring more goals.
77 minutes into the match, the visitors' central line of defence had to look on as
D. Staal broke through, making the score 7 - 1 for Marmita.
A. Güray sailed high above the opponents as he headed in a corner kick from
M. Stocker after 80 minutes of play, making the score 7 - 2.
Cheers filled the stadium as
L. Riera broke through the visitors' central defence to put away the ball to increase the lead to 8 - 2 to Marmita.
S. Großkreutz increased Marmita's lead to 9 - 2 with a penalty spot cannonball.
Marmita claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 75 percent.
Marmita's top performer was clearly
L. Riera.
S. Barirí turned in a dismal performance, however.
A. Vasdekis performed admirably for Mannraut.
N. Kučejevas was a disappointment, however.
The match ends 9 - 2.
