It had rained all day, but 53253 hardy fans still made it out to
Nido de Ilusiones.
Sandro van Lammeren was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Andrei Romaniuc and
Stig Edland.
All of
Francisco Morazan was shut down for the day, as fans of both clubs came to the derby.
Crotalos started off with a 3-5-2 lineup.
The following players took the field: Buenfil - van Straaten, Nieto, Romaní - Amador, Vizcarrondo, Smółka, Mogg, Boonen - Vavrovský, Córdova.
ATLETIC decided to use a 3-5-2 set up.
Lineup: Maneiro - Steinschuetz, Törőcsik, Bobar - Conesa, Mercau, Sandu, Barrero Ortega, van de Biggelaar - Picon, Jeličić.
The muddy pitch made the game a gritty affair, which seemed to suit
D. Vavrovský just fine.
ATLETIC's
A. Picon managed to lose the defenders as he advanced down the right wing and scored, putting the visitors ahead after 9 minutes. 0 - 1.
A well placed corner kick from
V. Jeličić was followed by
Ó. Barrero Ortega's hard but accurate header. The well executed routine resulted in a goal for ATLETIC, the score now 0 - 2.
A defender managed to keep the ball from crossing the goal-line after a curling shot coming in from the right from
A. Picon after 29 minutes, and prevented ATLETIC from going up another goal.
With 33 minutes played, a quick exchange of passes on the left wing freed
S. Bobar of ATLETIC to slip through the defence and score another goal for the visitors. That made the score 0 - 3.
K. Mrosla was called on to replace Crotalos's
R. Córdova after 34 minutes following a nasty collision.
38 minutes into the match,
Ó. Barrero Ortega came through the middle and almost added to his team's lead, but the shot went wide.
Crotalos's
I. Boonen got the home crowd going when he finished off a left wing charge, reducing the away team's lead to 1 - 3.
Halftime score was 1 - 3.
Neither team were able to dominate possession this half.
The home crowd was given a certain amount of consolation when
K. Mrosla scored after a brilliant midfield combination through the centre, reducing the lead to 2 - 3.
What ever got into
J. Mogg, the crowd mumbled, as he suddenly struck a cross pass through his own defence - ending up right in front of ATLETIC's
A. Picon, who easily put the ball away for 2 - 4 after 74 minutes.
With the scoreboard showing that 75 minutes had been played, ATLETIC nearly put themselves up another goal after
Z. Törőcsik came through on the left. Fortunately for the home crowd, the keeper made the save.
After 78 minutes, an incisive pass through the middle gave
A. Picon a chance to increase the lead for ATLETIC, and he did not disappoint. The score was then 2 - 5.
At that,
A. Picon was noted down for a hat trick!
After several obvious shirt pulling incidents,
K. Mrosla got himself booked. The manager of Crotalos was not happy.
A. Conesa could have put his team up another goal 84 minutes into the game, after a rush down the left, but his closing shot hit the post.
Crotalos refused to be intimidated and, breaking through the middle,
K. Mrosla managed to slip the ball home for 3 - 5.
Crotalos's
D. Romaní cut towards the middle after 85 minutes, receiving a brilliant pass and slicing through the visiting team's central defence, reducing the lead to 4 - 5.
Crotalos enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 51 percent of possession.
Crotalos's top performer was clearly
D. Vavrovský.
W. Smółka turned in a dismal performance, however.
Most important ATLETIC player was
A. Picon.
On the other hand,
Ó. Barrero Ortega's play was disheartening.
The match ends 4 - 5.
