A brilliantly sunny day had enticed a crowd of 59479 to The Trial. Joël Geoffroy was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Arturo Hernández and Adolf Lanicime. After 10 minutes, Saracatrasca's C. Castellarnau burst through the central defence and let loose a cannonball of a shot, scoring for 0 - 2. L. De Groeve almost reduced the deficit, having drawn the entire left side defence away, but the shot went straight into the arms of the goalkeeper. Floydianos's A. Strzelec had to watch the rest of the game from the sidelines, after twisting his ankle with 21 minutes having been played. E. Jørgensen was the replacement. S. M'pamy could have put his team up another goal 22 minutes into the game, after a rush down the left, but his closing shot hit the post. A drive down the left side allowed C. Pizzi to get in close and score another goal for Saracatrasca after 29 minutes, taking the score to 0 - 3. Confident in their lead, Saracatrasca's players relaxed and focused more on defending the lead than increasing it. 33 minutes into the match Floydianos's T. Voulgaris viciously shoved another player from behind while going for a loose ball and was sent off the pitch with a red card. C. Pizzi came close to extending the visitors' lead when he found himself completely unmarked in front of the goal after a pass through the middle. He tried to lift the ball over M. Olivares but overcooked it and hit the bar instead. 0 - 3 was the score after the first half. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Saracatrasca, with 51 percent of the ball.

Floydianos's R. Kyselý had a nice free kick routine after 54 minutes that was very close to paying off, had it not been for a dramatic save by the visitors' keeper. Floydianos needed a fresh pair of legs on the field, and after 60 minutes L. De Groeve made way for S. Novello. As the game started to slip away for Floydianos, the manager decided to change the tactical approach. Unhappy with the result so far in the game, the Floydianos manager used a brief break in play after 60 minutes to give the players new directives. Saracatrasca's S.
