Due to an all-day shower, 11293 paying spectators got to see a match on a pitch-turned-bog at Pueblo Carbonero. C.A.PEÑAROL! used their skill at pressing to cut off the attack angles of their opponents all over the field. Goldshark mostly ignored the flanks in favour of their ability to attack in the middle. After 16 minutes, Goldshark put themselves up 0 - 1, as I. László finished off a strike from the left with a real cannonball of a shot. C.A.PEÑAROL!'s M. Paşcu was shown a yellow card after 23 minutes for slicing down an opponent. The referee signalled a penalty 32 minutes into the game following an offence which looked like it was outside the box. J. Nieva knocked it home to make the score 0 - 2. The game was characterised by rough play and many physical challenges on the wet field, but J. Nieva showed great heart and had a good game. After 41 minutes, Goldshark's D. Rodríguez burst through the central defence and let loose a cannonball of a shot, scoring for 0 - 3. M. Paşcu was struggling to make the ball dance with his usual trickery and panache, and the opposing players had little trouble shutting him down in these muddy conditions. Goldshark had a good opportunity to attack on the wing, but remembered their instructions to go for middle attacks. After 43 minutes, an incisive pass through the middle gave E. Yern a chance to increase the lead for Goldshark, and he did not disappoint. The score was then 0 - 4. L. Lavalleja spent most of the time in a heap on the ground today, his normally rapid movement hindered by the slippery pitch. It was 0 - 4 at the break. Goldshark claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 72 percent.

Goldshark players heard their coach's words ringing in their ears and steered their wing attacks to the middle instead. After 63 minutes a combination in the middle resulted in a through ball for I. László who increased Goldshark's lead to 0 - 5. The players of Goldshark now seemed to think the job was done and acted more defensively, just waiting for the ref to blow the final whistle. After several obvious shirt pulling incidents, G. Solis got himself booked. The manager of C.A.PEÑAROL! was not happy. Goldshark's J. Nieva missed a penalty shot 76 minutes into the contest. The shot produced was way too weak, allowing the keeper to collect it at his own leisure. The pressing tactics used by C.A.PEÑAROL! were successful as the ball remained close to the half way line at all times. Had it not been for one of the home defenders, H. Ghiggia would have put Goldshark up another goal 80 minutes into the match with his audacious lob from the right wing. A defender managed to keep the ball from crossing the goal-line after a curling shot coming in from the right from S. dos Ramos after 83 minutes, and prevented Goldshark from going up another goal. After 85 minutes of game time, H. Ghiggia had an excellent opportunity to add to the visitors' lead, clipping a volley hooked in from the right, but R. Hemphill was in the right place and tipped the ball over for a corner. Goldshark enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 70 percent of possession.

C.A.PEÑAROL!'s top performer was clearly O. Rotondaro. However, M. Jednaković made a disastrous appearance. Most important Goldshark player was H. Ghiggia. N. Devillers on the other hand, had a terrible day. The match ends 0 - 5.
