The 11785 spectators at SANTA FE were in for an afternoon of sunshine. Iulius Manta was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Eetu Mikkanen and Thierry Roman. Deportipo took a creative approach on the field. Carbonero's M. Penino tried to break through in the middle repeatedly, but couldn't get past the visitors' defenders. 12 minutes into the game, E. Gómez almost gave the visitors the lead, as he clipped a delicate lob over the keeper, but the ball glanced harmlessly off the crossbar. Carbonero's J. Sánchez was shown a yellow card for standing over the ball and blocking an opponent's quick free kick after 13 minutes. After 14 minutes, Deportipo's G. Villagrán made his way through the middle and nonchalantly placed the ball out of the keeper's reach, putting the visitors up 0 - 1. It was a hot and sunny day, and several players seemed worn out. Maybe this was why M. Brisset found an unusual amount of space for his snappy footwork. K. Hörtnagl came close to extending the visitors' lead when he found himself completely unmarked in front of the goal after a pass through the middle. He tried to lift the ball over S. Acevedo Vázquez but overcooked it and hit the bar instead. 25 minutes into the game, Deportipo seemed to suffer a certain amount of confusion and they fell to a passable level of organisation. Some fine movement on the left led to a Deportipo goal after 28 minutes, making it 0 - 2. D. Völz was noted down as the scorer. 0 - 2 was the score after the first half. Possession in this half belonged to Deportipo, who controlled the ball 59 percent of the time.

During the break, Deportipo's coach went through the team's tactics yet again, getting them up to solid organisation. Deportipo's N. Pétel got himself booked for a foul. After 63 minutes Carbonero's M. Mascarañas limped slightly after a late challenge, but he was able to continue. After 69 minutes, there was a bit of a mixup on the field as Deportipo found themselves out of position and their organisation level dropped to passable. After 79 minutes a combination in the middle resulted in a through ball for D. Piechura who increased Deportipo's lead to 0 - 3. Confident in their lead, Deportipo's players relaxed and focused more on defending the lead than increasing it. After 81 minutes, an incisive pass through the middle gave M. Brisset a chance to increase the lead for Deportipo, and he did not disappoint. The score was then 0 - 4. 83 minutes into the match, the visitors put themselves ahead 0 - 5 as N. Pétel finished off an attack from the left with a spectacular scissors kick. E. Gómez received a delicate pass through the home side's central defence after 84 minutes, and chipped it past the flailing keeper to score making it 0 - 6. The Deportipo fans went wild, whilst the home fans started to think about leaving early. After 87 minutes, Deportipo's G. Villagrán burst through the central defence and let loose a cannonball of a shot, scoring for 0 - 7. Deportipo had most of the ball, with 64 percent of possession.

Most important Carbonero player was C. Blanco. S. Acevedo Vázquez was a disappointment, however. Deportipo's best player was G. Beler. U. Dutrenit turned in a dismal performance, however. The match ends 0 - 7.
