A scorching day at
North Park, Silence hell, where 78735 spectators were in place for today's match.
Paolo Pinzoni was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Alessandro La Delfa and
Şiar Nazır.
FCBarcom tactics involved an interesting 3-5-2 combination.
The following players had been chosen: Šparović - Beleño, Sani, Granado - Bent, Cascante, Madariaga, Sunsing, Fernández - Lindermann, Briceño.
RAPIDS started off with a 4-5-1 lineup.
The following players took the field: Nissim - Barbu, Grünspan, Angrillini, Rudloff - Rouquie, Anastasi, Lambrecht, Nellemann, Marconi - Čukstēns.
It was obvious that RAPIDS were using their pressing skill as their primary tactic.
RAPIDS's talent at pressing frustrated the spectators as the game became a dire midfield struggle.
They were singing the praises of
G. Sunsing 21 minutes into the match after his speculative chip from the middle of the penalty box found its way over the visitors' keeper to make the score 1 - 0 to FCBarcom.
The sun seemed to put
N. Sani in a great mood, and he showed off his technical skills all match long.
RAPIDS managed, after 27 minutes, to even the score at 1 - 1 with a lucky free kick by
F. Rouquie. Somehow the ball squirmed its way through the defensive wall!
After 32 minutes, RAPIDS's
G. Marconi fell awkwardly, but was determined to stay in the match. That's the spirit!
After 33 minutes, FCBarcom were awarded a free kick. Rather than shooting straight at goal, the taker went for an indirect variant which seemed to take his team mates a bit by surprise.
I. Briceño did attempt a finish, but from an awkward position, sending the ball into the away fans.
A counterattack by RAPIDS after 34 minutes could have resulted in a goal, but
G. Marconi, coming in on the left, couldn't get the shot off.
It was 1 - 1 at the break.
FCBarcom enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 64 percent of possession.
The coach of FCBarcom wanted to try to change things around after 55 minutes, and gave new tactical instructions.

N. Sani gave
R. Scopise a quick hug as he left the field.
RAPIDS pressed their opponents, causing the game to be a bit of a stalemate at times.
The heat made it a terrible day for
F. Angrillini, who seemed unable to keep up with the other players.
Some great play up the middle by FCBarcom led to a chance for
M. Bent to score after 86 minutes, but the shot hit the crossbar.
With 87 minutes played,
A. Čukstēns of RAPIDS fell dramatically just outside the penalty area. However, the referee was unimpressed, and booked him for diving.
Slack defending gave FCBarcom a chance to take the lead with 88 minutes played, but
R. Scopise's cross from the left flank was fumbled in front of the goal and easily dealt with by the opposition.
RAPIDS had to make a substitution after 89 minutes.
K. Nellemann limped off the field and was replaced by
M. Šľachtovský.
H. Cascante wasn't much help defensively. His energy-consuming forward runs proved quite costly in the oppressive heat.
Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by FCBarcom, with 71 percent of the ball.
FCBarcom's top performer was clearly
T. Lindermann.
R. Scopise was a disappointment, however.
The most dominating RAPIDS player was without a doubt
R. Rudloff.
M. Šľachtovský on the other hand, had a terrible day.
The match ends 1 - 1.
