TDJ 2 - 0 Belen (392018759)

Dark skies made the crowd of 55006 at Refugio del Jumay a little nervous, but the rain held off. Jack Zachariassen was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Miguel Almeida and Michele Liguori. TDJ tactics involved an interesting 4-5-1 combination. The following players had been chosen: Kim - Arellano, Caso, Calvo, Elizondo - Jaghbeer, Truhlík, Schindler, Hohaus, Üksik - Apollonov.

Belen had chosen a strategic 4-5-1 formation. Starters: Sáenz - Pacheco, Arizmendi, Romero, Domínguez - Bonet, Delogu, Villamarín, Galov, Gutiérrez - Artavia.

For their match strategy, Belen had decided to use their ability to counter-attack whenever possible. Belen's C. Domínguez had to watch the rest of the game from the sidelines, after twisting his ankle with 13 minutes having been played. G. Barrantes was the replacement. 0 - 0 was the halftime score. Belen claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 54 percent.

46 minutes into the match, the referee signalled for a Belen substitution. L. Hardy came on for J. Bonet. After 48 minutes, TDJ were awarded a free kick. Rather than shooting straight at goal, the taker went for an indirect variant which seemed to take his team mates a bit by surprise. J. Arellano did attempt a finish, but from an awkward position, sending the ball into the away fans. S. Arizmendi still has a lot to learn. For instance, he should know not to make half-hearted passes in front of I. Apollonov, who easily scored for TDJ, making it 1 - 0. After 61 minutes, I. Apollonov put TDJ ahead 2 - 0 when he rose to head in a cross from the right wing. O. Calvo was ever so close to scoring after an excellent corner was beautifully flicked on by R. Elizondo, but the ball bounced off the post to safety. Belen enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 56 percent of possession.

Most important TDJ player was I. Apollonov. S. Kim turned in a dismal performance, however. Belen's top performer was clearly J. Villamarín. G. Sáenz on the other hand, had a terrible day. The match ends 2 - 0.
