30-07-2012 01.10
Clouds darkened the skies at
1993 Arena as 22642 spectators turned up for the match.
Elias Kulka was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Silvio Brun and
Darren Formosa.
Wirpool had chosen a strategic 4-4-2 formation.
The following players had been chosen: Schönkamp - O'Sullivan, Nørbjerg, Hofkamp, Michael - Kunth, Altman, Somhegyi, Pila - Buzaş, Gilibert.
A 4-4-2 alignment was the formation of choice for Heat.
Lineup: Menchaca - Cícero, Maldonado, Linares, Mora - Loza, Murillo, Alcázar, García - Astilla, Carrera.
It was an obvious ambition of Wirpool to use their ability at attacking on the flanks.
Wirpool fans held their breath as
P. Gilibert scampered down the left side. He successfully avoided all challenges and cracked home the shot for 1 - 0!
J. Somhegyi increased Wirpool's lead to 2 - 0 with a penalty spot cannonball.
The goal to make it 3 - 0 was scored by
S. Kunth after 28 minutes, following an opportunistic counterattack down the middle by Wirpool.
Wirpool's
J. Somhegyi was shown a yellow card after 30 minutes for slicing down an opponent.
3 - 0 was the score after the first half.
Wirpool claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 63 percent.
After 56 minutes, the away team failed to deal with a good exchange of passes on the right, and
P. Gilibert gave the Wirpool supporters even more to cheer about when he increased the lead to 4 - 0.
H. Schönkamp wanted to play on, but the Wirpool coach had other ideas, and he was replaced 61 minutes into the game by
T. Van Ginderen.
A speedy charge from the left side of the field increased the lead of Wirpool to 5 - 0 as
M. Buzaş finished it off competently, firing in from an acute angle.
After this, you could see that the players of Wirpool were more interested in killing time than scoring more goals.
Wirpool's
S. Kunth was dominating his wing and kept sending fine balls into the opposition's box -
M. Buzaş managed to volley one of them into the net to make it 6 - 0 after 73 minutes.
The Wirpool players could smell victory in the air.
J. Somhegyi wasn't in a hurry to leave the field as he was substituted for
E. Prieto after 74 minutes.
P. Gilibert could have put Wirpool up one more, but he fired into the side netting after breaking free on the left after 78 minutes.
A magnificent combination in the middle resulted in Wirpool's
M. Pila increasing the lead to 7 - 0.
Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Wirpool, with 75 percent of the ball.
M. Buzaş performed admirably for Wirpool.
On the other hand,
J. Hofkamp's play was disheartening.
Heat's best player was
D. Cícero.
G. Menchaca turned in a dismal performance, however.
The match ends 7 - 0.
