previous 2/10 next 4/10  Kiasu 3 - 2 Iguanas (392023561)

It was an exceptionally sunny day for the crowd of 70607 that came out to Tallahassee Bog. Barthélémy Restoux was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Tristan Åhlsten and Kunó Gellért. Kiasu tactics involved an interesting 2-5-3 combination. The following players had been chosen: Hußlein - Cullen, Roche - Yaqub, Alderman, Rasmussen, Bostic, Lance - Sonoda, Cameira, Key.

Iguanas started off with a 4-5-1 lineup. They fielded: Elsen - Mahoney, Thomas, Bejarano, Coe - Vrijsen, Zorogastua, Cantu, Ray, Oakley - Codrescu.

Using their counter-attacking abilities was the strategy of choice for Iguanas. After 20 minutes, a well-worked counterattack by Iguanas on the right presented an easy opportunity in front of the goal that was duly converted by E. Codrescu to make it 0 - 1. I. Roche of Kiasu was booked for kicking the ball away after the whistle. Due to some great work on the right wing Kiasu's F. Cameira was able to even the score after 32 minutes to make the score 1 - 1. After 39 minutes Iguanas's T. Thomas contracted a slight foot injury, but didn't want to leave the game. The teams went for the halftime break at 1 - 1. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Kiasu, with 55 percent of the ball.

Kiasu took the lead after 56 minutes as a result of T. Sonoda's peach of a shot from the right hand side of the box - placed beautifully in the top corner. 2 - 1. H. Yaqub had a fantastic opportunity to put Kiasu up another goal 59 minutes into the match, but he fired just over the crossbar. Kiasu's N. Lance was shown a yellow card after 65 minutes for slicing down an opponent. A loud groan was heard from the fans of Iguanas, as T. Thomas left the pitch in too much pain to finish the match. K. Altınay took his place on the field. After 69 minutes, a couple of quick and successful challenges followed by a shot from just outside the penalty area by K. Rasmussen might have resulted in another goal for Kiasu. However, K. Elsen made a spectacular save. After 76 minutes, B. Mahoney sent the corner kick right to L. Zorogastua who headed it sharply past the keeper. 2 - 2! After 77 minutes, T. Sonoda came in from the right, feinted, then sped past the off-balance defender to make the score 3 - 2, giving Kiasu the lead. Kiasu enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 56 percent of possession.

The most dominating Kiasu player was without a doubt H. Yaqub. N. Lance on the other hand, had a terrible day. K. Altınay performed admirably for Iguanas. C. Oakley was a disappointment, however. The match ends 3 - 2.
