previous 9/10 next 1/10  Tigers 4 - 2 Striving (392028065)

Clouds darkened the skies at Memorial Arena as 48748 spectators turned up for the match. Samuel Vock was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Godot Gautheron and Eugenio Fuentes. Tigers tactics involved an interesting 3-5-2 combination. Lineup: Brignoli - Motti, Melka, Gualda - Keizer, Menc, Sujarwo, De Boeck, Cagigas - Nyskog, Prue.

Striving had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation. Starters: Baloh - Holter, 宏威 (Hongwei), Łukawski - Kroeger, Pollock, Dautzenberg, Thinggaard, Manduchi - Yanakiev, Späni.

Tigers saw most attack opportunities on the wings. Tigers took the lead 12 minutes in, as J. Prue broke through on the left and put the 1 - 0 shot just beyond the reach of the outstretched keeper. S. Cagigas should probably have put his team up another goal after 24 minutes, but some great goalkeeping by M. Baloh kept the visitors in the game. After 30 minutes, the visitors levelled the scores after H. Pollock made it through the middle and struck home to make it 1 - 1. 1 - 1 was the score after the first half. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Tigers, with 58 percent of the ball.

Some great play up the middle by Tigers led to a chance for P. Motti to score after 50 minutes, but the shot hit the crossbar. With 58 minutes played, the visitors broke through on the right after some poor defending. F. Späni put the ball away for 1 - 2. A foul 68 minutes into the game resulted in a free kick for Tigers. B. Melka took advantage as he curled the equalising goal into the top corner, just out of the reach of the keeper. 2 - 2. Tigers were determined to attack on the wing and their central attempts were constantly abandoned in favour of the wings. Tigers fans held their breath as E. Keizer scampered down the left side. He successfully avoided all challenges and cracked home the shot for 3 - 2! The home side's B. Melka curled a free kick home after 73 minutes, putting Tigers ahead 4 - 2. Tigers had most of the ball, with 58 percent of possession.

Most important Tigers player was Y. Sujarwo. On the other hand, B. Melka's play was disheartening. H. Pollock performed admirably for Striving. M. Baloh on the other hand, had a terrible day. The match ends 4 - 2.
