Dark skies made the crowd of 38278 at
Matvte a little nervous, but the rain held off.
Lukáš Krištof was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Alexandru Grosu and
Vasilică Vicol.
Fans of both teams had been eagerly awaiting this
Amazonas derby and were doing their best to outshout their opponents.
Victoria decided to use a 3-5-2 set up.
Starters: Escorna - Nilsson, Carajulca, Eche - Burkat, Borgflod, Vaca, van Kulemborg, Wykydal - Ventura, Platzer.
Macareno tactics involved an interesting 5-4-1 combination.
Lineup: Moscatel - Macizo, Abusabal, Belaúnde, Tucto, Tangüis - Figueiredo, Gruborovics, Yamamoto, Gomes - Munive.
Given a free kick in a difficult position after 7 minutes, Victoria tried a variation that they had practised in training. The kick was sent into the area just in front of the keeper. However, the defence were on their toes and allowed no space for a finish.
Victoria fans held their breath as
M. Nilsson scampered down the left side. He successfully avoided all challenges and cracked home the shot for 1 - 0!
Halftime score was 1 - 0.
Possession in this half belonged to Victoria, who controlled the ball 67 percent of the time.
G. Platzer wanted to play on, but the Victoria coach had other ideas, and he was replaced 51 minutes into the game by
F. Runesson.
With 66 minutes played, Victoria put themselves up 2 - 0 when the visiting defenders lost the ball to
M. Nilsson, who came up from the left and proceeded to coolly round the keeper and knock the ball home.
J. Munive's lightning pace was too much for
R. Carajulca who could only look on as the Macareno player blasted one home. 2 - 1.
F. Runesson increased the lead for Victoria to 3 - 1, getting a head onto a hooked ball from the right. The ball looked to have taken a deflection on the way in, but he's claiming it!
After 80 minutes, the away team failed to deal with a good exchange of passes on the right, and
F. Runesson gave the Victoria supporters even more to cheer about when he increased the lead to 4 - 1.
Victoria claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 71 percent.
Victoria's top performer was clearly
Á. Ventura.
However,
D. Escorna made a disastrous appearance.
Macareno's best player was
I. Gruborovics.
G. Macizo turned in a dismal performance, however.
The match ends 4 - 1.
