Fairly good weather for football had drawn a crowd of 12000 to
Blitzkrieg Arena.
Andrejs Martinsons was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Désiré Durot and
Eigil Abelsen.
Werewolf decided to use a 4-4-2 set up.
The following players had been chosen: Batista - Benavides, Lozano, Barajas, Fajardo - Nuñez, Morillo, Córdova, Luengo - Lechiguero, Céspedes.
A 3-5-2 alignment was the formation of choice for Watashis.
Lineup: Gürbaş - Moreno, Patil, Paolini - Zimbru, Lazo, Calvo, Amezcua, Losco - Mizia, Sangrà.
M. Nuñez's lightning pace was too much for
M. Lazo who could only look on as the Werewolf player blasted one home. 1 - 0.
The visitors refused to give in and, after 14 minutes,
M. Lazo evened things up as he finished off a perfect pass from the right. 1 - 1
The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave
A. Sangrà from Watashis a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 22 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient!
Watashis's
M. Lazo gave the visitors a 1 - 2 lead after 25 minutes with a superb strike from the right.
The referee signalled a penalty 26 minutes into the game following an offence which looked like it was outside the box.
M. Lazo knocked it home to make the score 1 - 3.
By then
M. Lazo had scored three goals - a hat trick!
At this point, it was obvious that the players of Watashis lowered the tempo and became more defensively oriented.
With 30 minutes played, Watashis put themselves up 1 - 4 after an attack from the right, caused by a defensive blunder. The scorer was
R. Amezcua.
The teams went for the halftime break at 1 - 4.
Watashis claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 88 percent.
Some fine movement on the left led to a Watashis goal after 59 minutes, making it 1 - 5.
A. Sangrà was noted down as the scorer.
After 63 minutes, an incisive pass through the middle gave
A. Sangrà a chance to increase the lead for Watashis, and he did not disappoint. The score was then 1 - 6.
After 64 minutes a combination in the middle resulted in a through ball for
T. Mizia who increased Watashis's lead to 1 - 7.
M. Lazo increased the visitors' lead by putting a volley away after a pass from the right. 1 - 8.
The home crowd was not impressed when
J. Calvo came in from the right, shooting hard to score after 79 minutes. Watashis were now up 1 - 9.
Watashis enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 90 percent of possession.
The most dominating Werewolf player was without a doubt
J. Córdova.
J. Barajas was a disappointment, however.
Most important Watashis player was
T. Mizia.
On the other hand,
C. Gürbaş's play was disheartening.
The match ends 1 - 9.
