Weather conditions were fairly good for football, and Monumental Brendan 'El Matador' Holmes saw a crowd turnout of 91149. Using their counter-attacking abilities was the strategy of choice for Rojos. Counter-attacking seemed to be the preferred strategy of Rh. Rh had several good opportunities to take the lead, especially 4 minutes in when C. Pioger came up alone against R. Gámez who managed a block. Rojos made a bid to take the lead as a ball coming in on the right hand side left R. Cabrera completely alone with keeper C. Hörster, who made a spectacular block. Making his way up the middle 11 minutes into the match, P. Agreste almost managed to squeeze a goal past the visitors' keeper, but the alert C. Hörster blocked it to keep the score level. M. Cerda of Rh was booked for kicking the ball away after the whistle. 25 minutes into the game Rh managed a counterattack, but S. Amrouche took a soft shot from the left flank that was easy prey for the alert keeper. Rojos's I. Änkilä tried to break through in the middle repeatedly, but couldn't get past the visitors' defenders. Having just succeeded in blocking a dangerous counter attack, the defending team was outwitted by the follow-up Rh free kick. The routine was expertly executed as the ball was shifted quickly to one side of the box, then back to the other. R. Curtopelle appeared on cue near the post, and steered it past the goalie. 0 - 1, after 30 minutes. 0 - 1 was the score after the first half. Possession in this half belonged to Rojos, who controlled the ball 54 percent of the time.

Rojos's R. Cabrera proved that he's been around on a football pitch before, when he took advantage of a few moments of confusion in the opposition's defensive line and elegantly scored for 1 - 1. After 70 minutes, a well-worked counterattack by Rojos on the right presented an easy opportunity in front of the goal that was duly converted by J. Fernández to make it 2 - 1. Rh's M. Gregnanin was shown a yellow card after 76 minutes for slicing down an opponent. Rh mounted an inspired counterattack down the right wing after 80 minutes, but M. Gregnanin was unable to convert from short range. The visitors' equaliser seemed sure to come after 81 minutes, following a one on one situation around the left hand side of the goal area, but R. Gámez got the best of it, blocking the shot from C. Pioger. Rojos enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 53 percent of possession.

Most important Rojos player was R. Gámez. A. Badrutt was a disappointment, however. C. Pioger performed admirably for Rh. On the other hand, C. Hörster's play was disheartening. The match ends 2 - 1.
