previous 9/10 next 1/10  Goalderù 2 - 3 Melogeno (392336195)

24836 spectators had come to colderù park arena this cloudy day. Rüdiger Dissen was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Robert Lercher and Sergio Todaro. Goalderù had chosen a strategic 4-5-1 formation. The following players took the field: Stresow - Lunderberg, Rodrigues Sampaio, Botturi, Reyes - Peeters, Pi y Margall, Schram, Xavier, Pihamäki - Boivin.

Melogeno tactics involved an interesting 3-5-2 combination. Starters: Roccatello - Galiqi, Plangger, Gégout - Goossen, Caretti, Ramazzotto, Ceneda, Dardari - Vránsky, Dreifelder.

Goalderù were very close to putting themselves one up after 8 minutes as T. Lunderberg got through on the left, but failing in concentration, he shot the ball wide. Against a lesser team, Goalderù could very well have succeeded with their smart indirect free kick routine after 19 minutes. A trio of passes took the ball all the way past the defenders, but by then the intended recipient was already blocked off and the keeper could make a leisurely save. The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave Á. Rodrigues Sampaio from Goalderù a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 20 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient! 23 minutes into the game, A. Caretti had to leave the pitch due to a knee injury. In came M. Negrin. 0 - 0 was the halftime score. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Goalderù, with 65 percent of the ball.

46 minutes into the game, Goalderù wanted to bring some new energy to their game. J. Boivin gave O. Mazzaroni a quick hug as he left the field. Melogeno had to manage with a reduced squad after 64 minutes, as E. Goossen got sent off for a needless foul away from the game's action. Melogeno's defence sent a ball soaring up the middle on a beautiful counterattack with 82 minutes gone, but J. Dreifelder's finish was met by the reaching hands of the keeper. Making his way up the middle 87 minutes into the match, T. Lunderberg almost managed to squeeze a goal past the visitors' keeper, but the alert F. Roccatello blocked it to keep the score level. Possession in this half belonged to Goalderù, who controlled the ball 71 percent of the time.

Still tied after 90 minutes, the match continued into extra time. 96 minutes had elapsed when a great chance for Goalderù to take the lead after a good cross from the right found O. Mazzaroni alone with the keeper, but he chipped it to the wrong side of the post. Still tied after extra time, the crowd was buzzing as the teams prepared for a penalty shoot-out to determine the winner.

Goalderù's O. Mazzaroni cockily booted the ball with a short-and-fast instep. The penalty, going just wide of the mark, didn't produce a goal. Melogeno's M. Negrin looked nervous even as he was putting the ball on the spot. He didn't take much of a run up, and his weak shot was easily saved by the keeper. Clearly nervous from the start, Goalderù's S. Pi y Margall took a long run up, but could only blast the ball over the bar. The score remains 0 - 0. Melogeno's G. Dardari coolly put the ball past E. Stresow. 0 - 1. Goalderù's M. Botturi was relaxed as he smoothly put the ball in the net. 1 - 1! Melogeno's V. Ceneda showed he has nerves of steel when it comes to penalties, easily changing the score to 1 - 2. Goalderù's T. Lunderberg made no mistake. F. Roccatello didn't have a chance. 2 - 2. Melogeno's T. Ramazzotto didn't look like he was confident as he stepped up, and produced a badly struck penalty - right into the arms of E. Stresow. The score remained 2 - 2. Goalderù's M. Pihamäki looked like he knew exactly where he wanted to put the ball, but unfortunately his shot went wide of the left hand post. Still 2 - 2. Melogeno's J. Dreifelder made no mistake. E. Stresow didn't have a chance. 2 - 3. Á. Rodrigues Sampaio performed admirably for Goalderù. On the other hand, R. Reyes's play was disheartening. The most dominating Melogeno player was without a doubt J. Dreifelder. However, M. Negrin made a disastrous appearance. The match ends 2 - 3.
