previous 3/10 next 5/10  RITORNO 0 - 1 NAPOLONE (392337072)

Weather conditions were fairly good for football, and Matusa saw a crowd turnout of 24834. Stefano Gaetano was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Gilles Leimgruber and Christian Spangberg. RITORNO decided to use a 3-5-2 set up. The following players took the field: Teodoro - Cater, Monduzzi, Veloso - Amico, Migneot, Cozzella, Clark, Burelli - Vunderink, Broskvar.

NAPOLONE started off with a 5-3-2 lineup. Starters: Ingrosso - Aprigliano, Cavani, Bigatti, Guglielmino, Piedepalumbo - van IJssel, Schafthuizen, Benavente - Banor, Loorens.

RITORNO saw most attack opportunities on the wings. NAPOLONE were relying on their ability to counter-attack. Down the middle came D. Piedepalumbo, making a fantastic play that nearly had NAPOLONE take the lead after 36 minutes, but V. Teodoro preserved the tie. NAPOLONE's M. Loorens was shown a yellow card after 37 minutes for slicing down an opponent. B. Burelli was the unlucky victim and couldn't continue the game, so RITORNO's M. Gricourt had to come off the bench. After 41 minutes, NAPOLONE put themselves up 0 - 1, as H. Schafthuizen finished off a strike from the left with a real cannonball of a shot. 42 minutes were showing on the scoreboard when NAPOLONE's M. Loorens received his second yellow card and was sent off. NAPOLONE almost scored after a counterattack 44 minutes into the match, but M. Banor took a shot from the left that landed harmlessly in the side of the net. 0 - 1 was the score after the first half. NAPOLONE had most of the ball, with 51 percent of possession.

The referee showed NAPOLONE's P. Bigatti the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. M. van IJssel wanted to play on, but the NAPOLONE coach had other ideas, and he was replaced 65 minutes into the game by E. Barbizzi. 67 minutes into the game, NAPOLONE worked the left side industriously creating several opportunities to add to their lead, but just couldn't apply the finishing touch. The home crowd cheered when, after 79 minutes, V. Guglielmino's charge up the middle resulted in the keeper making one of his best saves of the day. The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave J. Vunderink from RITORNO a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 81 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient! Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by NAPOLONE, with 54 percent of the ball.

RITORNO's top performer was clearly M. Gricourt. F. Amico on the other hand, had a terrible day. The most dominating NAPOLONE player was without a doubt S. Cavani. C. Ingrosso turned in a dismal performance, however. The match ends 0 - 1.
