The weather was pretty good, and a crowd of 12000 had shown up at
Trearddur Wanderers Arena for the match.
Niall Seger was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Stéphane Albouy and
Olle Persson.
Trearddur tactics involved an interesting 4-4-2 combination.
They fielded: Ul-Haq - Francis, Rawlins, Ryan, Owen - Taylor, Ellis, Evans, Rodman - Shaw, Roberts.
A 3-5-2 alignment was the formation of choice for UPG.
The following players took the field: Jaromin - Lai, Falkenhagen, Boon - Blonder, Brodsky, Håkansson, Brügmann, Karbonade - Zimnicki, Beretta.
UPG took the lead after 2 minutes making the score 0 - 1.
W. Zimnicki placed the ball out of reach for the home side's keeper after a fine move, coming in from the left.
After 4 minutes, UPG's
M. Beretta burst through the central defence and let loose a cannonball of a shot, scoring for 0 - 2.
The visitors'
W. Zimnicki took advantage of a misunderstanding between the home side's goalie and centre backs 10 minutes into the match. 0 - 3 for UPG.
After 12 minutes, a mistake by the home side's left defence allowed
R. Brügmann to get through. He outclassed the home side's keeper, adding another goal for the visitors. 0 - 4.
By now, the players in UPG felt that victory was guaranteed and began to play it safe, focusing on defence and not risking too much going forward.
With 21 minutes played, UPG put themselves up 0 - 5 after an attack from the right, caused by a defensive blunder. The scorer was
M. Beretta.
0 - 5 was the score after the first half.
UPG enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 81 percent of possession.
The home crowd was not impressed when
P. Håkansson came in from the right, shooting hard to score after 47 minutes. UPG were now up 0 - 6.
Some fine movement on the left led to a UPG goal after 48 minutes, making it 0 - 7.
W. Zimnicki was noted down as the scorer.
That made three goals for
W. Zimnicki and he was marked down for the hat trick.
The coach of UPG was happy with the game so far, but still wanted to change the line up. After 50 minutes,
P. Jagielski came on for
S. Lai.
After 53 minutes Trearddur's
T. Roberts contracted a slight foot injury, but didn't want to leave the game.
P. Håkansson left the field with a smile on his face as he was substituted 65 minutes into the game, as his team was in the lead.
F. Serra was the replacement.
The UPG players could smell victory in the air.
W. Zimnicki wasn't in a hurry to leave the field as he was substituted for
R. Luthuli after 70 minutes.
V. Falkenhagen received a delicate pass through the home side's central defence after 73 minutes, and chipped it past the flailing keeper to score making it 0 - 8. The UPG fans went wild, whilst the home fans started to think about leaving early.
After 84 minutes a combination in the middle resulted in a through ball for
R. Brügmann who increased UPG's lead to 0 - 9.
S. Boon increased the visitors' lead by putting a volley away after a pass from the right. 0 - 10.
UPG had most of the ball, with 88 percent of possession.
Trearddur's best player was
R. Shaw.
A. Ul-Haq was a disappointment, however.
Most important UPG player was
F. Serra.
On the other hand,
P. Jagielski's play was disheartening.
