(392409704)

20-06-2012 10.30
Clouds darkened the skies at
FC Rietwis Arena as 30044 spectators turned up for the match.
Cato Andreassen was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Xavier Oerliker and
Thijs van ‘t Hoff.
Rietwis decided to use a 4-4-2 set up.
They fielded: Carrascalão - Polanowski, Wilke, Bonghi, Alexander - Tittler, Treichler, Mångård, Wismath - Brown, Erne.
Nankatsu had chosen a strategic 4-4-2 formation.
Starters: Bernhardt - Matteoni, Sprunger, Rigaud, Garcia - Pedrioli, Papon, Huegle, Bazin - Räth, Jović.
Rietwis took the lead 12 minutes into the game by 1 - 0, as
P. Mångård elegantly received a long range pass through the middle, finishing off with a half-volley shot just below the bar.
18 minutes into the game, Nankatsu seemed a little tentative in their play as their organization fell to
inadequate.
L. Brown increased the lead for Rietwis to 2 - 0, getting a head onto a hooked ball from the right. The ball looked to have taken a deflection on the way in, but he's claiming it!
The players of Rietwis now seemed to think the job was done and acted more defensively, just waiting for the ref to blow the final whistle.
Rietwis's
P. Mångård was shown a yellow card for standing over the ball and blocking an opponent's quick free kick after 28 minutes.
T. Erne could have increased the lead after 33 minutes, but his shot hit the post after a nice combination in the middle of the park.
With 37 minutes played, Rietwis's well-worked indirect free kick caused havoc in the penalty area, and when the ball eventually fell to
L. Brown he gleefully slotted the ball home to make it 3 - 0.
After 39 minutes, there was a bit of a mixup on the field as Rietwis found themselves out of position and their organisation level dropped to
solid.
3 - 0 was the halftime score.
Rietwis claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 72 percent.
A review of the gameplan helped Rietwis get back to a
excellent organisation when the referee blew his whistle again.
The coach gave his players an extra tactical briefing during the break, and after that Nankatsu had
solid organisation.
F. Wilke had a fantastic opportunity to put Rietwis up another goal 49 minutes into the match, but he fired just over the crossbar.
Having been awarded a free kick in an awkward position after 50 minutes, Rietwis did not go for a shot but instead fired the ball hard into the 6 yard box. After a brief tussle with his marker,
D. Alexander was able to power the ball past the keeper to make the score 4 - 0.
After 54 minutes, Rietwis's
N. Tittler fell awkwardly, but was determined to stay in the match. That's the spirit!
67 minutes into the game, Rietwis had difficulty finding their positions and their organisation dropped to
passable.
83 minutes in, Nankatsu appeared unsure on how to play and their organisation was only
wretched.
Rietwis solidified their lead at the 84 minute mark, as
E. Treichler dribbled the ball through the opposing central defence and scored to make it 5 - 0.
87 minutes into the game, Rietwis seemed to suffer a certain amount of confusion and they fell to a
passable level of organisation.
E. Bonghi struck a 30 metre free kick home 88 minutes into the match. 6 - 0 for the home team.
Possession in this half belonged to Rietwis, who controlled the ball 79 percent of the time.
T. Erne performed admirably for Rietwis.
On the other hand,
C. Carrascalão's play was disheartening.
Most important Nankatsu player was
S. Jović.
K. Garcia was a disappointment, however.
The match ends 6 - 0.
