Clouds darkened the skies at Hialu Stadium as 17150 spectators turned up for the match. Julien Allain was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Massimiliano Carlotti and Fabian Hafner. Jeantes came in to finish the match. After 35 minutes, Atlético's I. Humphries swiftly ran past C. Keller and nutmegged the keeper! 1 - 2. With 38 minutes played, Atlético's well-worked indirect free kick caused havoc in the penalty area, and when the ball eventually fell to N. Jeantes he gleefully slotted the ball home to make it 1 - 3. Halftime score was 1 - 3. Atlético claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 55 percent.

I. Chopieta wanted to play on, but the Atlético coach had other ideas, and he was replaced 46 minutes into the game by P. Mingo. Atlético increased their lead after 50 minutes when I. Humphries broke through on the right, upping the score to 1 - 4, much to the home crowd's dismay. N. Currelos of Atlético took advantage of a mistake on the home side's right after 62 minutes which increased the away team's lead to 1 - 5. By now, the players in Atlético felt that victory was guaranteed and began to play it safe, focusing on defence and not risking too much going forward. With 67 minutes played, a quick exchange of passes on the left wing freed I. Humphries of Atlético to slip through the defence and score another goal for the visitors. That made the score 1 - 6. This third goal completed a hattrick for I. Humphries. A marvellous Hialuronics effort on the right-hand side resulted in a goal after 76 minutes by M. Nobbe, making the score 2 - 6. Hialuronics's P. Chaboche was shown a yellow card for standing over the ball and blocking an opponent's quick free kick after 77 minutes. The Atlético free kick 81 minutes into the match seemed wasted, as the shot was both short and off target. But was this actually a plan? The ball landed at the feet of Z. Ameixa, who was completely unmarked in the box. That's 2 - 7! Possession in this half belonged to Atlético, who controlled the ball 55 percent of the time.
