21792 spectators had come to
Margalef Stadium this cloudy day.
Kalle Junno was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Klaus Stoermer and
Tarquínio Marinheiro.
People from all over
Catalunya had joined up for the derby.
Fortia had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation.
The following players had been chosen: Navarrete - Starosta, Messere, Becht - Dragutinović, Ferro, Anikichev, Kapanen, Šestić - Leibetseder, Frishman.
calafats decided to use a 3-5-2 set up.
They fielded: Armodoros - Gustavsson, Dildar, Thompson - Podlasiak, Clos, Enache, Olive, Vito - Voldstedlund, Dziwisz.
calafats clearly had decided to counter-attack when they could.
A well placed corner kick from
A. Gustavsson was followed by
J. Clos's hard but accurate header. The well executed routine resulted in a goal for calafats, the score now 0 - 1.
T. Dziwisz received a delicate pass through the home side's central defence after 8 minutes, and chipped it past the flailing keeper to score making it 0 - 2. The calafats fans went wild, whilst the home fans started to think about leaving early.
The swift technical skills of
H. Voldstedlund were often too much for the tall but somewhat slow
B. Messere who was humiliated after 20 minutes. He'll be breathing a huge sigh of relief after the final shot went wide.
25 minutes in, calafats's
J. Clos received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first.
26 minutes into the game Fortia broke through on the left wing and
W. Ferro managed to reduce the lead to 1 - 2.
With 32 minutes played,
W. Podlasiak nearly put the visitors another one up as he broke through in the middle and fired from just outside the box, but his shot passed just over the bar.
Some fine passing in the middle of the pitch, carving open the away defence, should have led to a goal for Fortia, but
S. Leibetseder's shot went over the bar.
The teams went for the halftime break at 1 - 2.
Possession in this half belonged to calafats, who controlled the ball 52 percent of the time.
T. Dziwisz wanted to play on, but the calafats coach had other ideas, and he was replaced 65 minutes into the game by
J. Amezcua.
In the lead, calafats adjusted their style of play with 66 minutes gone.
The home crowd cheered when, after 66 minutes,
J. Amezcua's charge up the middle resulted in the keeper making one of his best saves of the day.
After 68 minutes, there was a bit of a mixup on the field as calafats found themselves out of position and their organisation level dropped to
inadequate.
Fortia's
E. Kapanen was shown a yellow card after 75 minutes for slicing down an opponent.
76 minutes in, calafats appeared unsure on how to play and their organisation was only
poor.
As
A. Gustavsson had, completely unprovoked, swept the legs out from under an opponent in front of a linesman, the referee gave the calafats player a red card without batting an eyelid.
J. Amezcua was the new captain of calafats - handed the armband by the departing player.
Fortia had most of the ball, with 56 percent of possession.
R. Frishman performed admirably for Fortia.
Đ. Šestić turned in a dismal performance, however.
Most important calafats player was
H. Voldstedlund.
On the other hand,
J. Vito's play was disheartening.
The match ends 1 - 2.
