The 30055 spectators at New Gouvinhas stadium ! were in for an afternoon of sunshine. Tomas Luijten was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Antoine Faure and Ole Streng. Mangouste clearly had decided to counter-attack when they could. The visitors' central defence should have had no trouble clearing the pass to G. Guittard, but the Cmalbarré player managed to shrug them off and fired a low shot past the keeper to give his team the lead. 1 - 0! G. Guittard had a fantastic opportunity to put Cmalbarré up another goal 12 minutes into the match, but he fired just over the crossbar. A speedy charge from the left side of the field increased the lead of Cmalbarré to 2 - 0 as A. Irusta finished it off competently, firing in from an acute angle. Things were going to get worse for the visitors. G. Guittard squirmed through their central defence after 24 minutes, increasing the lead to 3 - 0. The players of Cmalbarré now seemed to think the job was done and acted more defensively, just waiting for the ref to blow the final whistle. R. Pożoga increased Cmalbarré's lead to 4 - 0 with a penalty spot cannonball. Halftime score was 4 - 0. Cmalbarré had most of the ball, with 71 percent of possession.

After 50 minutes, Mangouste raised their score by one when T. Lerner's dangerous low cross was cleverly tucked in at the near post by O. Hagen. 4 - 1. Cmalbarré's R. Pożoga saw his fine effort strike the top of the bar following some good work up the middle by his teammates after 63 minutes. With 71 minutes played, the Mangouste coach decided a substitution may help turn the game around. P. Estanyol came on, O. Hagen had to leave the fray. It wasn't a good day at all for P. Gaillard. His powerful style of play just didn't fit the bill on this warm day. Against a lesser team, Cmalbarré could very well have succeeded with their smart indirect free kick routine after 78 minutes. A trio of passes took the ball all the way past the defenders, but by then the intended recipient was already blocked off and the keeper could make a leisurely save. The bench was restless, and with 80 minutes passed Mangouste's coach gave D. Pirès the opportunity the player had been hoping for. R. Frinsel reluctantly left the field. After 81 minutes, a couple of quick and successful challenges followed by a shot from just outside the penalty area by C. Guignard might have resulted in another goal for Cmalbarré. However, A. Berenguer made a spectacular save. The referee showed Cmalbarré's G. Guittard the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. With 86 minutes played, Cmalbarré put themselves up 5 - 1 when the visiting defenders lost the ball to A. da Silva, who came up from the left and proceeded to coolly round the keeper and knock the ball home. After 88 minutes, Cmalbarré were awarded a free kick. Rather than shooting straight at goal, the taker went for an indirect variant which seemed to take his team mates a bit by surprise. S. Angheluţă did attempt a finish, but from an awkward position, sending the ball into the away fans. Mangouste almost scored after a counterattack 89 minutes into the match, but P. Estanyol took a shot from the left that landed harmlessly in the side of the net. After 89 minutes Mangouste's P. Estanyol limped slightly after a late challenge, but he was able to continue. Cmalbarré enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 73 percent of possession.

Most important Cmalbarré player was G. Guittard. R. Pożoga on the other hand, had a terrible day. The most dominating Mangouste player was without a doubt P. Estanyol. F. Jacquier turned in a dismal performance, however. The match ends 5 - 1.
