(392519796)

21-06-2012 01.30
A scorching day at
Berlin Riese, where 17821 spectators were in place for today's match.
Jojô Jericoacoara was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Patrício Cerejeira and
Mark Stegner.
People from all over
Provincia de Buenos Aires had joined up for the derby.
A 5-4-1 alignment was the formation of choice for Defensores.
They fielded: Doose - Delgado, Romanelli, Avila, Azpilincueta, Fraiz - Shabliy, Broadway, Innocente, Magnin - Pantufla.
Rock-o tactics involved an interesting 2-5-3 combination.
The following players had been chosen: Raynal - Blanckensee, Román - Kohlmayer, Läfén, Rolfsson, Domínguez, Mudde - Bujeda, Ringen, Okuniewski.
For their match strategy, Defensores had decided to use their ability to counter-attack whenever possible.
After 4 minutes Rock-o's
G. Raynal contracted a slight foot injury, but didn't want to leave the game.
After 5 minutes,
E. Broadway sent the corner kick right to
H. Innocente who headed it sharply past the keeper. 1 - 0!
Rock-o had a chance to level the score as
S. Domínguez suddenly found himself free in the middle of the box with only the keeper to beat, but he misjudged the finish, and only managed to hit the bar.
Defensores's defence sent a ball soaring up the middle on a beautiful counterattack with 10 minutes gone, but
E. Broadway's finish was met by the reaching hands of the keeper.
30 minutes into the match, Rock-o's
A. Ringen demonstrated his famed speed as he raced past his marker and passed the ball to
P. Bujeda who chipped it in for 1 - 1.
The guests almost went up by a goal after 31 minutes when
P. Bujeda came through and shot from the right. The ball bounced harmlessly off the post, though.
1 - 1 was the halftime score.
Rock-o had most of the ball, with 62 percent of possession.
Defensores's
H. Innocente got himself booked for a foul.
V. Läfén came close to putting the visiting team one up 79 minutes into the match, following a solo raid down the middle, but
F. Doose managed to tip the ball to a corner.
With the clock showing 80 minutes played, a great pass from the defensive line of Defensores resulted in a counterattack that was smoothly brought under control by
V. Shabliy in the centre of the opposition's penalty area, but his finish went high.
With the scoreboard clock showing 86 minutes, the inexperienced Defensores team fell into disarray.
The sunny day didn't make things easy for
M. Fraiz who didn't seem his usual powerful self on the pitch.
Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Rock-o, with 60 percent of the ball.
As neither team was able to break the deadlock before the end of regular play, the teams took to the field again for extra time.
Despite his frustration resulting in the smashing of a few teacups, the coach of Defensores was able to get his message across, and raised Defensores's organisation to
solid.
E. Broadway was very close to giving Defensores the lead with an ingenious free kick routine 99 minutes into the match, but the ball just grazed the bar.
Rock-o's
V. Läfén managed to lose the defenders as he advanced down the right wing and scored, putting the visitors ahead after 111 minutes. 1 - 2.
This put an end to extra time, making Rock-o the winners.
J. Romanelli performed admirably for Defensores.
On the other hand,
M. Fraiz's play was disheartening.
Most important Rock-o player was
A. Ringen.
However,
G. Raynal made a disastrous appearance.
The match ends 1 - 2.
