By now, the players in Genfis felt that victory was guaranteed and began to play it safe, focusing on defence and not risking too much going forward. 18 minutes into the game, united seemed a little tentative in their play as their organization fell to inadequate. 29 minutes into the game, united seemed to suffer a certain amount of confusion and they fell to a weak level of organisation. It was 2 - 0 at the break. Genfis had most of the ball, with 72 percent of possession.

A review of the gameplan helped united get back to a passable organisation when the referee blew his whistle again. B. Taillefer should probably have put his team up another goal after 51 minutes, but some great goalkeeping by M. Dinarelli kept the visitors in the game. 59 minutes into the game, united had difficulty finding their positions and their organisation dropped to inadequate. 67 minutes in, united appeared unsure on how to play and their organisation was only inadequate. Things were going to get worse for the visitors. G. Melo squirmed through their central defence after 70 minutes, increasing the lead to 3 - 0. 74 minutes into the match J. Flodgård put Genfis ahead 4 - 0 with a truly marvelous free kick. Genfis enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 70 percent of possession.

Genfis's top performer was clearly G. Melo. On the other hand, D. Cagiga's play was disheartening. N. Minghi performed admirably for united. V. Pozdnyshev turned in a dismal performance, however. The match ends 4 - 0.
