Wichert Van Bunder was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Rafael Bonilla Mangas and
Manuel Pozuelo.
Genfis started off with a 3-5-2 lineup.

Genfis clearly had decided to counter-attack when they could.
Making his way up the middle 4 minutes into the match,
T. Garcia almost managed to squeeze a goal past the visitors' keeper, but the alert
M. Dinarelli blocked it to keep the score level.
The visitors' central defence should have had no trouble clearing the pass to
T. Garcia, but the Genfis player managed to shrug them off and fired a low shot past the keeper to give his team the lead. 1 - 0!
After 16 minutes, there was a bit of a mixup on the field as united found themselves out of position and their organisation level dropped to
inadequate.
Genfis solidified their lead at the 17 minute mark, as
B. Taillefer dribbled the ball through the opposing central defence and scored to make it 2 - 0.
By now, the players in Genfis felt that victory was guaranteed and began to play it safe, focusing on defence and not risking too much going forward.
18 minutes into the game, united seemed a little tentative in their play as their organization fell to
inadequate.
29 minutes into the game, united seemed to suffer a certain amount of confusion and they fell to a
weak level of organisation.
It was 2 - 0 at the break.
Genfis had most of the ball, with 72 percent of possession.
A review of the gameplan helped united get back to a
passable organisation when the referee blew his whistle again.
B. Taillefer should probably have put his team up another goal after 51 minutes, but some great goalkeeping by
M. Dinarelli kept the visitors in the game.
59 minutes into the game, united had difficulty finding their positions and their organisation dropped to
inadequate.
67 minutes in, united appeared unsure on how to play and their organisation was only
inadequate.
Things were going to get worse for the visitors.
G. Melo squirmed through their central defence after 70 minutes, increasing the lead to 3 - 0.
74 minutes into the match
J. Flodgård put Genfis ahead 4 - 0 with a truly marvelous free kick.
Genfis enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 70 percent of possession.
Genfis's top performer was clearly
G. Melo.
On the other hand,
D. Cagiga's play was disheartening.
N. Minghi performed admirably for united.
V. Pozdnyshev turned in a dismal performance, however.
