26-06-2012 19.00
The weather was pretty good, and a crowd of 32294 had shown up at
Stadio del Sole for the match.
Sebastian Staal was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Attila Harmados and
Mihas' Matvienka.
Pescoluse had chosen a strategic 4-4-2 formation.
The following players had been chosen: Cortesão - Diciolla, Palocci, Sapporel, De Poli - Ratanajaroen, Arsenidze, Liebi, Pfenninger - Valentini, Barrena Delgado.
Kasteddu decided to use a 2-5-3 set up.
Starters: Röst - Toffan, Rusek - Kuleshevich, Rubeo, Gkazidis, Četojević, Cusimano - Lavelli, Antoldi, Soare.
Kasteddu clearly preferred using their ability to attack in the middle.
The most controversial moment of the game was likely the penalty given after 26 minutes. Kasteddu's
F. Toffan kept his concentration, despite the upset crowd, and calmly put the ball past the keeper to make the score 0 - 1.
The crowd was on its feet 29 minutes into the match, as Pescoluse's
V. Diciolla found himself unmarked in front of the goal after a dash up the left side. He calmly put away the 1 - 1 equaliser.
Pescoluse were very close to putting themselves one up after 35 minutes as
J. Arsenidze got through on the left, but failing in concentration, he shot the ball wide.
It was 1 - 1 at the break.
Kasteddu claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 59 percent.
A. De Poli caused the crowd to go mental with his goal up the middle after 48 minutes. This gave Pescoluse the 2 - 1 lead.
Kasteddu had a chance to level the score as
G. Lavelli suddenly found himself free in the middle of the box with only the keeper to beat, but he misjudged the finish, and only managed to hit the bar.
After 84 minutes, a couple of quick and successful challenges followed by a shot from just outside the penalty area by
P. Liebi might have resulted in another goal for Pescoluse. However,
E. Röst made a spectacular save.
Kasteddu levelled the score after 86 minutes to make it 2 - 2, as
F. Toffan struck home after a fine midfield combination through the centre, which left him completely unmarked.
The referee signaled a penalty for the home side after 88 minutes, amid vocal protests from the visitors. Pescoluse fans erupted in celebration as
J. Pfenninger rifled the ball into the the top corner. 3 - 2!
89 minutes into the game Kasteddu's
G. Lavelli found a gap in the home side's central defence and scored with a fabulous shot, making it 3 - 3.
Kasteddu had most of the ball, with 60 percent of possession.
As neither team was able to break the deadlock before the end of regular play, the teams took to the field again for extra time.
The visiting
F. Soare was booed thoroughly by the home crowd 93 minutes into the game, after he broke through the middle and scored, resulting in the visitors taking the lead. 3 - 4 was the score.
This put an end to extra time, making Kasteddu the winners.
M. Sapporel performed admirably for Pescoluse.
N. Ratanajaroen turned in a dismal performance, however.
Kasteddu's top performer was clearly
Z. Gkazidis.
On the other hand,
E. Röst's play was disheartening.
The match ends 3 - 4.
