STEAND 2 - 0 Subbutea (392601418)

Fairly good weather for football had drawn a crowd of 20912 to STEAND Euganeo. Jani Heino was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Stephan Eggemann and Reuven Malichi. STEAND had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation. The following players took the field: Parmeggiani - Heide, Žilić, Angkulwattanachai - Manjavacas, Sattler, Garoldi, Lalomia, Fusé - Vinkler, Fodri.

Subbutea started off with a 5-2-3 lineup. They fielded: Barac - Natali, Dembke, Modoran, Vennema, Tordeurs - Holmberg, Peltonen - Cidrás, Völklingen, Elmas.

For their match strategy, Subbutea had decided to use their ability to counter-attack whenever possible. They were singing the praises of R. Lalomia 16 minutes into the match after his speculative chip from the middle of the penalty box found its way over the visitors' keeper to make the score 1 - 0 to STEAND. The home side failed to add to their score as N. Garoldi shot a penalty wide after 22 minutes. After 23 minutes, Subbutea were awarded a free kick as their counter attack broke down. The set piece was lifted over the top, intended to open up the defence. However, the target man seemed to be taken by surprise, and could not reach the ball before it crossed the line for a goal kick. Cheers filled the stadium as S. Angkulwattanachai broke through the visitors' central defence to put away the ball to increase the lead to 2 - 0 to STEAND. R. Lalomia unleashed a swerving effort from the right that the visitors' keeper did well to tip wide. 2 - 0 was the halftime score. STEAND claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 78 percent.

D. Fodri wanted to play on, but the STEAND coach had other ideas, and he was replaced 50 minutes into the game by J. Delfino. M. Žilić could have put STEAND up one more, but he fired into the side netting after breaking free on the left after 52 minutes. Although the whole team were struggling to impress, Subbutea's A. Elmas was singled out as being the problem as he was called off the pitch after 60 minutes. A. Krkoč was given a chance to change things around. Subbutea's M. Holmberg left the field after 64 minutes because of a nasty blow to the shin. His replacement was M. Spampinato. STEAND enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 79 percent of possession.

Most important STEAND player was N. Garoldi. S. Angkulwattanachai turned in a dismal performance, however. The most dominating Subbutea player was without a doubt A. Peltonen. A. Krkoč on the other hand, had a terrible day. The match ends 2 - 0.
