Pineapple 1 - 6 Leeds
(392619352)

27-06-2012 04.30
6930 fans braved the pouring rain at
Pineapple House.
Mehmet Edler was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Wolfram Schröder and
Hank Love.
Pineapple tactics involved an interesting 3-5-2 combination.
The following players had been chosen: Jun Eng - Mutazz, See, Hock Chao - Ong, Kang Tze, Liaw, Hu, Barua - 横山 (Yokoyama), Jia Hao.
A 3-5-2 alignment was the formation of choice for Leeds.
Lineup: Poon - 福天 (Futian), Keng Tse, Ming Jia - Graells, bin Mohd Saad, Li Kang, Kang Yong, bin Anusai - bin Othman, Jian Liang.
Down the middle came
K. Jian Liang, making a fantastic play that nearly had Leeds take the lead after 6 minutes, but
H. Jun Eng preserved the tie.
After 40 minutes, Leeds sent a free kick in high over the penalty box. In what looked like a well-rehearsed move, the ball was headed backwards and reached
W. Li Kang, who had plenty of space to place a well aimed shot - 0 - 1.
The boggy pitch disrupted the game, especially for technical players like
N. Hu.
W. Li Kang came close to extending the visitors' lead when he found himself completely unmarked in front of the goal after a pass through the middle. He tried to lift the ball over
H. Jun Eng but overcooked it and hit the bar instead.
0 - 1 was the score after the first half.
Possession in this half belonged to Leeds, who controlled the ball 65 percent of the time.
Leeds increased their lead after 49 minutes when
K. Jian Liang broke through on the right, upping the score to 0 - 2, much to the home crowd's dismay.
Leeds's
M. bin Mohd Saad was shown a yellow card after 53 minutes for slicing down an opponent.
A loud groan was heard from the fans of Pineapple, as
H. Kang Tze left the pitch in too much pain to finish the match.
L. Ting Jing took his place on the field.
After 72 minutes, a mistake by the home side's left defence allowed
Y. Keng Tse to get through. He outclassed the home side's keeper, adding another goal for the visitors. 0 - 3.
At this point, it was obvious that the players of Leeds lowered the tempo and became more defensively oriented.
W. Li Kang couldn't do anything to stop the technically gifted
P. Jia Hao as he dodged past on his way to scoring a wonderful goal for Pineapple - 1 - 3!
With 81 minutes played, a quick exchange of passes on the left wing freed
莫. 福天 (Futian) of Leeds to slip through the defence and score another goal for the visitors. That made the score 1 - 4.
L. See slipped and slithered in the wet grass. His usual rapid runs were nowhere to be seen today.
The Leeds free kick 83 minutes into the match seemed wasted, as the shot was both short and off target. But was this actually a plan? The ball landed at the feet of
A. bin Othman, who was completely unmarked in the box. That's 1 - 5!
After 84 minutes, Leeds's
A. bin Othman burst through the central defence and let loose a cannonball of a shot, scoring for 1 - 6.
Leeds claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 71 percent.
The most dominating Pineapple player was without a doubt
悟. 横山 (Yokoyama).
However,
H. Jun Eng made a disastrous appearance.
Most important Leeds player was
Y. Keng Tse.
V. Poon on the other hand, had a terrible day.
The match ends 1 - 6.
